In Greece, Easter isn’t just a holiday - it’s one of the most sacred and cherished times of the year. Deeply woven into our culture, it blends solemn rituals, vibrant festivities, and the warmth of shared meals. If you’re visiting Athens this spring, here’s how to experience it like a local:

1️⃣ Good Friday (April 18): Join the moving Epitaphios procession at Metropolis Cathedral, where candlelit streets and haunting hymns create a moment of deep reflection. The procession usually starts between 8 and 9 pm.

2️⃣ Holy Saturday (April 19): Witness the Resurrection at Metochion of the Holy Sepulchre in Plaka - the first church in Greece to receive the Holy Light from Jerusalem. At midnight, the sky erupts with fireworks as locals chant "Christos Anesti!"

3️⃣ Easter Sunday (April 20): Celebrate with feasts of lamb on the spit, crimson-red eggs, and joy shared around the table.

Amsterdam, November 28th, 2024. The Travelife Partner level award was received today by Greek TravelTellers (Greece). The award recognizes the long-term efforts of Greek TravelTellers regarding sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibility.

Greek TravelTellers complies with more than 100 criteria, related to an operator’s office management, product range, international business partners and customer information. The Travelife Partner level standard is covering the ISO 26000 Corporate Social Responsibility themes, including environment, biodiversity, human rights and labour relations.

Mr. Naut Kusters, manager of Travelife for Tour Operators, “I am delighted to see that sustainability in the tour operator sector is obtaining momentum. The Partner award of Greek TravelTellers will inspire other companies in Greece to follow the same path”.

Travelife is the leading international sustainability certification for the travel sector.
