SELINA CICEK DUTCH KATA CHAMPION
We had the great pleasure last night to visit Kos Fighters´ training hall, and chat with the instructor Mr Neochoritis Christos. The presence on our island of the Dutch karate champion SELINA CICEK who lives in the city of APELDOORN and belongs to the KARATE DO-SMAAL club there, was the reason for this meeting.

The warm welcome and high level of the two athletes resulted in a mutual promise to further strengthen their clubs relationship, through the participation of their teams in tournaments that Helios Tours will undertake to organize in APELDOORN and Kos.

HELIOS TEAM WORK...
Last year (September 27, 2023) my husband and I, went hiking on Mount Dikeos. Unfortunately, I fell down. I called 112 but that contact was difficult. I didn't know at the time that I was calling Rhodes.

While I was waiting for help, Ron (from Helios tours) came by with his hiking group. He went down with the group and wait for the emergency services there. In the meantime, hikers came up. One of them gave me a banana and a card with Ron's details. So sweet of him.

At one point we heard voices and saw Ron coming up with the firefighters behind him. My foot was secured and I was put in a stretcher and taken down and immediately put in the ambulance and taken to the hospital. It turned out that I had a double ankle fracture. Once home, I contacted Ron again by email.

Today (October 10, 2024) we visited Helios Tours and I heard more about how Helios Tours helped me by also contacting Rhodos and calling in the help troops. I am grateful to them for everything they have done for me. Top team Helios Tours.

Nera Island, located among Greece's Dodecanese Islands, is an uninhabited, secluded destination ideal for yachtsmen. Situated off the southern tip of Kalymnos Island, it features serene beaches, hilly landscapes, and pristine waters, making it a perfect haven for those seeking tranquility.

"Nera" means "water" in Greek, reflecting the island's freshwater springs that nourish its trees and olive groves. The island is mostly wild with only two buildings: an abandoned taverna and the Church of the Holy Cross, formerly part of a monastery.

Despite its proximity to bustling Kalymnos, Nera Island remains largely untouched by tourism, offering a serene escape with its rugged coastline, hidden coves, and crystal-clear waters. The tranquil atmosphere and stunning sunsets make it an ideal destination to unwind and reconnect with nature.

Nera Island offers a primary anchorage area on its east side in a protected bay, marked by an abandoned taverna and a manmade jetty. The windier period is from early November to early April, with winds averaging over 13 mph, while calmer winds are from April to October, averaging 10.8 mph.

Nera Island’s small harbor can only accommodate a few vessels. If more than 3 or 4 boats arrive, maneuvering can be difficult, and finding an alternative anchorage is recommended. The taverna is rarely open, so bring supplies. Activities include exploring hiking trails through olive groves and past a historic church, with panoramic views as a reward.

KARINA TRAPEZANIDOU SKRZESZEWSKA
It is very well known that the famous Greek- Polish Opera Singer Trapezanidou Skrzeszewska adores Kos island. It is also well known that Michal Grudzinski, her husband, wants to stay permanently at Kos. What is not well known, is that since yesterday they are both honorary citizens of Kos, for their love and efforts in promoting our island not only in Poland but also in Germany and Italy. We are very proud for them!
