Hello traveler, it's been a while and I thought I might as well introduce myself again.
My name is Efi and I have lived in 8 countries. Being a foreigner but living like a local is one of the biggest challenges I faced in my life. I am based in Athens now and I run two companies.

Just 60 km north of the beautiful town of Ioannina lies Dragon Lake.

As the name suggests this lake is tied to a legend, one that involves two dragons. 🐉🐉

According to local myths these mountains were once home to rival dragons. One lived on Mount Tymfi and the other on Mount Smolikas. Peaceful coexistence for these fire breathing creatures was not an option and whenever one was angered, they would throw rocks at the other. The rocks can be seen scattered around both lakes to this day.

There is something magical about this lake, as with many of the places in Greece. They’re made all the more intriguing by the stories and legends that are tied to them, passed down through the ages.

Did you know that the 6th of January is considered the unofficial end-date of the Christmas festivities in Greece. ⁣ ⁣

It is a very important religious holiday that Christians may know as Epiphany (another Greek word you might recognise!) ⁣ or the revelation of God to Jesus Christ. ⁣ ⁣

It is also a public holiday and when the Christmas tree and all other decorations are taken down and people begin to return to their normal working routine. ⁣🎄

So, even though 2022 has already been here for a week, this is the official start of the year as far as we are concerned. ⁣ ⁣

Santa Claus is known as Saint Basil in Greece or Agios Vasilis. Saint Basil of Caesarea, a father of the Orthodox faith and philanthropist, died on the 1st of January 379 AD.
