🌿Olive Harvest Season in Greece🌿

It's that special time of year when we gather to harvest olives, a tradition that dates back to ancient Greek times. Our rich history and heritage shine through each olive we pick. Proud to continue this timeless tradition.

In the palace of King Nestor in Pylos, large clay jars known as pithoi were used to store olive oil, right beside the king’s throne. This strategic placement highlights the vital role of olive oil in ancient Greek society, symbolizing its importance not only in daily life but also in the kingdom's wealth and economy. These jars remind us of the deep roots of olive cultivation in Greek heritage.

This timeless place, in front of which, Alexander the Great stayed for 9 days before embarking on his campaign towards East, in order to offer sacrifices to the gods... seeking their blessings for his conquests. These young travelers are woven into the same tapestry of history, united in the timeless dance of culture and connection

The Zigaktis River flows through the historic site of Philippi in Kavala, Greece. This serene river has witnessed centuries of history, from the ancient city’s thriving periods under Macedonian and Roman rule to the arrival of Apostle Paul in 49 AD. and finally the eventual decline. It was here by this river’s banks that Saint Lydia, the first European convert to Christianity, was baptized.
The river not only provided a water source for the ancient inhabitants but also played a pivotal role in the city's agricultural and economic life.
Zigaktis River is a serene reminder of the rich tapestry of history and spirituality that characterizes this ancient landscape. It’s a spot where you can almost feel the echoes of the past mingling with the present.

🖼Today at Dion, I met an artist, deeply inspired by the ruins of the Roman Baths. His presence evoked memories of those foreign travelers who were drawn to Greece's rich heritage before the War of Independence. His dedication to capturing the essence of our history is a beautiful reminder of the timeless allure of our cultural treasures!
I've asked him to take a picture of him, while he was sketching and he answered: "Sure! Do you want me to smile?"...

💮In ancient Greek mythology, cyclamens were closely associated with Persephone, the goddess of spring and queen of the underworld.
According to the myth, when Persephone was abducted by Hades, her mother Demeter’s grief caused the earth’s vegetation to wither. Cyclamen flowers are said to have sprung from Demeter’s tears, symbolizing rebirth, transformation, and eternal life.

These delicate flowers, with their unique heart-shaped leaves and vibrant blooms, were seen as emblems of true love and enduring beauty. They also represented the cycle of life and death, reflecting Persephone’s dual role as a symbol of both spring’s renewal and the underworld.
