Our archeological Makarapan mountain expedition starts this Saturday 🗺️🥇
With a team from @rewa_eco_lodge, lead by @viviansmith4709 are we heading in to locate hopefully two archeological sites in the secluded mountain 🙌
We will as well be climbing the peak of the mountain, look for wildlife and of course if we find any other interesting sites as we are exploring the area 🧭
We will be joined by a smashing team of participants counting @joe_trevorrow who join us for a second expedition this year! @alexadventureblog who were a volunteer teacher in Sand Creek village for two years, @eric_cilliers, Dominik and Jean who is all visiting Guyana for the first time! 🇬🇾
This is without a doubt going to be yet another banger of an expedition and I am already looking forward to be sharing what we find and experience! 🙏

The bow play an essential part of the initial training of our jungle survival participants, while the bow might be less of a essential once we drop off our guest for isolation, it is still very much one of the most versatile survival tools when it comes to hunting and fishing in the rainforest.
As Lionel one of our most senior instructor once described it. The bow can be used both for fishing and hunting at range while as an example the fishing line can only fish 💪
He then continued to show how he could use his bow even as a fishing rod 😂
Culturally and traditionally the bow was the number one tool for the indigenous communities, first later was things such as fishing line and seine introduced, so while it certainly makes life easier, don’t forget how your grandparents did it 😉🇬🇾
What many don’t know is that the bow itself was likely introduced by outsiders as prior to its success the blow pipe was the main tool for hunting in many communities across Guyana.

This Spider monkey followed us for almost a whole day in the Pakaraima mountains and managed to take a dumb on many of our bags as well 😂🐒
On our expeditions we often go to places very rarely visited by humans and this means as well that sometimes we run in to animals that as well very rarely, if ever have seen humans 🤣
In this case we had the feeling we weren’t really welcome, but at least we got a great show 🥇🇬🇾
We do both wildlife specific trips, but you can almost always be certain to see a fair bit of different wildlife whether you come to explore, learn skills or to just experience the life in the rainforest 🙌
