Visit old Hakka villages, marvel at the views from the highest peaks, enjoy the roar of a waterfall, swim at a beautiful beach, learn about Hong Kong's unique geology or just have a relaxed stroll through the woods. And all with the convenience of a private tour guide to show you the best of the best. From the barren wastelands of the Castle Peak range near Tuen Mun to the lush forests of the Tai
Po Kau nature reserve, and open grasslands on the slopes of Tai Mo Shan. High mountains provide fantastic vistas over both the countryside and the urban areas. Waterfalls can be found roaring down the steep mountain slopes. Scattered throughout these beautiful natural settings you can find many culturally and historically interesting sites such as authentic Hakka villages, where time seemingly has stood still for the past century, and secluded monasteries. The Global Geopark of Hong Kong offers interesting sights, showcasing the remarkably rich and unique geology of Hong Kong and giving insight in how a violent volcanic past gave the place the shape it has today. The territory used to be a major strategic asset of the British military. Ruins of military sites are all over the place, including gun placements, pillboxes, and even complete tunnel networks and large underground rooms that are still intact and accessible. The only time these defences have seen action was during the Japanese invasion in 1941, in which the British troops were quickly overrun. Very little damage was done to these installations.
