Our Story
When I was young, the world described Hong Kong as "Food Paradise", "Shopping paradise" and "The Pearl of the Orient". My dad felt so proud to be a HongKonger.
When I was 18, my English teacher asked our class to describe Hong Kong. I confidently shouted "Shopping paradise". She questioned if it still applied to Hong Kong. This question has in fact left me wonder for so many years until now.
With rapid growth of surrounding cities and the destruction of cultural heritage in our own city (and more!), Hong Kong is getting less and less unique. Historic buildings? Demolished. Old Street? Turns into high-rises. (E.g Lee Tung Street). The core values that we cherish and have long protected? Diminishing. Our needs and requests? Neglected. I was feeling so powerless. Then I had an idea and I am still doing it.
I set up Explore_HongKong (Instagram: @explore_hongkong )to fill Hong Kong with positivity (I hope haha). I want us all to appreciate the places, the culture, the people and the values that are still here. Thank you everyone for all your support in the past two years.
