โด๏ธThe first time I saw a blue whale it was a completely surreal experience. I was sitting on the back of the boat with my fins in the water just waiting for the animal to surface before we dropped in. Heart was pounding ๐Brain was on a constant loop of, โIโm about to swim with a blue whale, Iโm about to swim with a blue whale, Iโm about to swim with a blue...โ
๐ ๐ฃโWHALE!โ the captain shouted
All of a sudden the whaleโs absolutely massive backside emerged from the water, just meters from our boat. We were quickly given the order to drop in, and there it was. Twenty-plus meters of blue whale bathed in the morningโs dappled light as this beautiful being started its slow descent beneath us.
๐ The moment only lasted a few seconds, but when the largest animal to ever have lived is swimming beneath you, a few seconds felt like a few minutes and every image youโre able to get is a prized possession.

The biggest hammerheads in our ocean!
Different from other hammerheads, the Great Hammerhead is solitary and travels the oceans alone.
Did you know that female hammerheads are larger than males? These large female hammerheads like to come in Winter to the balmy and very productive waters of the Bahamas.
While you can find them in different locations the highest frequency of sightings is in Bimini, a small island cluster which lies between Florida and Bahamas
O๐ฎ๐ซ ๐๐๐ก๐๐ฆ๐๐ฌ ๐๐ฑ๐ฉ๐๐๐ข๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง๐ฌ ๐๐๐๐ is going both Tiger Beach and Bimini so you can be guaranteed to see Tiger Sharks and Great Hammerheads, as well as Bulls, Nurses and Lemons!

5 Tips to swim with whales ๐
1๏ธโฃDo not disturb the whales! Each and every encounter has to be done โunder the whaleโs termsโโ. The boat should approach slowly and stay parallel to the animals for a while running on low revolutions (it is crucial to choose responsible local operators who will follow these rules).
2๏ธโฃEnter the water quietly. Avoid splashing as it would scare the whales โ๐ฝ๐ฆUse your fins gently and always keep them underwater.
3๏ธโฃBe careful not to splash with your fins. Keep them well underwater or swim sideways. A weight belt can help to keep your legs under the water line.
4๏ธโฃWait for the whale to come to you. Hopefully the operator has dropped you well ahead. Wait really relaxed. When the whale approaches, move slowly and minimally. While swimming with them, stay parallel and donโt interfere with their swim path ๐
5๏ธโฃKeep a safe distance in between the whale and yourself and donโt touch, please! ๐

๐ Dominica is the only place in the world with resident sperm whales that stay there all year round. Mothers and calves in these resident pods are friendly and used to human contact.
