This is our family's private retreat from the stress of the modern world --- a place to enjoy seclusion and peace. We have been here for over twenty years. It is Wilmont Bay in Guanaja. Wilmont Bay is secluded and remote, by this I mean the only way in and out is by boat. There are only five houses in Wilmont Bay, all private homes, all protected. There are 3 cabins, one being our caretaker’s. Someone is always there. Two cabins can be rented. Wilmont Bay Retreat is not a resort or a hotel. For an invitation email us at [email protected]
Wilmont Bay is located on the Northwest side of Guanaja. We enjoy the most beautiful sunsets. Across from Wilmont Bay lay the islands of Barbareta, Morat and Roatan. On a clear day the mountains on the mainland of Honduras can be seen. Cruise ships pass by once a week, just outside the barrier reef heading to or from Roatan.
Our “front yard” is the Caribbean Sea. Reefs surround us on both sides to the left and to the right. Spend hours as I do snorkeling the reefs, there is no need to take a boat out to the reefs only grab your mask, snorkel and flippers. Then kayak the coastline exploring other beaches or go for a hike into the jungle.
We are devoted to saving the environment and all creatures. We protect our reefs; we have saved sea turtles and are working to save turtle nests. We have removed and destroyed long line nets. Spear fishing is prohibited. We are working with the Municipal to limit plastic in Guanaja. We have helped in cleaning up a local dump site. No hunting is allowed in Wilmont Bay. There is an array of wildlife including parrots, iguanas and agoutis.
