Talk about our childhood in a picture!

We grew up climbing on the roots, swimming amongst them, and although we might not have been so quick to admit it to our mothers back then, even climbing as high as we could to jump off of them!

Great Barracuda tend to have a bad reputation often having snorkelers immediately upon seeing them second guess if they left any flashy jewelry on before jumping in the water.

Towards the top of their food chain, barracudas certainly can look menacing as they remain in one spot just taking in their surroundings, since few predators are large and fast enough to feed on adult barracuda, they are not required to keep their guard up as much as other species.

This one in particular has chosen some of our favorite snorkel spots as his own hangouts, known to many as Lil Frank.

They are recorded to live up to 15 years and reach impressive sizes of up to 99 pounds!

Barracuda are a common find on locals' lunch plates, but only at the responsible size of 36 inches or larger as dictated by the Resposnible Seafood Guide, and not before conducting the "ant test" to check for a dangerous toxin that commonly builds up in this species.

Fun Fact: The Great Barracuda are listed amongst some of the fastest fish in the ocean making them top ambush hunters reaching top speeds recorded up to 35 mph!
