The story of Uncharted Cruises began with two friends that share a passion for diving and an insatiable thirst for adventure.

Patrick and Robert met many years ago, working as dive instructors, dive shop managers and cruise directors in Komodo National Park and beyond.
Individually drawn to Indonesia's mystic waters, the two adventurers embarked on their own voyages of discovery, each uncovering unique hidden treasures that the archipelago held beneath its surface.
United by their love for exploration and a deep-rooted connection to Indonesia, the duo soon realized that they shared a dream beyond the realms of mere diving trips.
Together they dreamt of one day creating their very own Phinisi Boat, reflecting their spirit of adventure and discovery of uncharted realms throughout the Indonesian archipelago.

In November 2022 they kicked-off the beginning of their dream! ✨
And so, Uncharted Cruises was born.

THALASSA

Thalassa was a primordial goddess of the sea, born of chaos and personifying its unpredictable nature. In the fables of Aesop, manifests as a woman formed of sea-water rising from her native element. 🌊
She produced the fish and other sea creatures and was often depicted riding the waves on a seahorse, with a crown of seaweed and shells adorning her head. 🐚

Imbued with the spirit of this goddess we gave the boat its name. This combines Thalassa’s mystical ocean personification with the spirit of the Bugis people and the pirate vibe of the open seas. 🌊🏴‍☠️

Set sail on an adventure aboard our Thalassa Phinisi to a secluded island paradise embraced by lush palm trees and adorned with pristine, white sandy beaches. It's a realm where endless possibilities await.

Our boat is built in the traditional bugis way by hand over a timespan of 18 months in South Sulawesi, Bulukumba using a combination of mainly iron wood and bitti wood for the exterior, and finest teak wood for the spacious interior.
The dive deck / recreational area on our boat is spacious and comfortable, allowing each diver to gear up and prepare for their dive with ease.
The deck has ample space for storage of all diving equipment, ensuring that each diver's precious gear is safe and secure.

Our boat is taking shape! Using the finest sustainably sourced ironwood and teak we are very proud to show off the finer details of the build and where it is all taking shape.

All the work is done on site at the ship yard in Tanah Beru by our experienced Phinisi builders, from the scaffolding to bending wood and even creating their own tools. The days are long and productive with every piece intricately put in place to create something special and unique.
