What is required to be reported on the individual tax return in Indonesia?

•Registering a taxpayer identification number (NPWP):

An individual who meets the subjective and objective requirements of a taxpayer needs to register their tax identification number (NPWP) either online through the website of the Directorate General of Taxes or in person at their nearest tax office.

•Annual tax return forms :

There are three kinds of annual tax return forms that can be used for reporting individual tax returns —
✅ 1770 Form
✅ 1770-S Form
✅ 1770-SS Form.

• When is the deadline for reporting individual tax returns?

The deadline for reporting the individual tax return is three months after the end of the tax year, which is March 31.

The annual tax return is for the period January 1 to December 31.

If the taxpayer reports their individual tax return past the specified time, then the consequences for being late are subject to administrative sanctions in the form of a fine.

If you want to use an Indonesian SIM phone card in your overseas, imported phone or tablet, then it won’t work.

Before you can use an Indonesian phone number you will first need to pay import taxes on the estimated value of your “imported” phone (or buy a new phone locally).

How does the Indonesian government know if your phone is purchased in Indonesia or overseas?

They manage to do this by checking the IMEI number of your phone (IMEI = International Mobile Equipment Identity).

Every phone has a unique IMEI number.

However, beyond the surface-level features, there are several hidden aspects of our phones that are worth exploring. One such aspect is the IMEI, which stands for International Mobile Equipment Identity.

The IMEI is a valuable piece that is serves authenticating the phone’s identity.

If your IMEI is not registered in Indonesia then you can only use your phone with your overseas SIM card. Your WhatsApp, Signal, Telegram and any other messaging/voice apps will continue to work.

If you want to use an Indonesian SIM card in your phone then you will need to register your phone and pay the import taxes.

The island of Lombok is quieter and less populated than Bali but it offers fantastic beaches and scenery.

Surfing in Lombok is fantastic and a popular reason why many people visit.

It’s got it all, breathtaking beaches, other smaller tropical islands, adventure, scenery, a friendly community and of course, luscious rice paddies and stunning waterfalls.

Lombok is definitely somewhere which is worth visiting and should seriously be considered if you’re visiting Indonesia.
