Barong and Rangda are among the traditional performing arts of Bali. In fact, there are many types of Barong in Bali, including Barong Bangkung, Barong Macan, Barong Brutuk, Barong Landing, and others. However, the most common one usually performed alongside Rangda is Barong Ket. Originally, Barong and Rangda were two forms of art revered by the Balinese people. They are usually kept in the temple’s Gedong Pura and only performed on specific days. Barong and Rangda are considered sacred once they have undergone the process of sanctification through the Pasupati ceremony. The dancers themselves must also undergo a purification ceremony beforehand.
