As a home to an immense scale of agro-industry, Indonesia holds an enormous potential of #bioenergy. More than 15 gigawatts of potential energy can be generated only by utilizing the waste from key agro-industry sectors. On the contrary, if not utilized, this large sum of energy potential will not only be wasted but also create harmful impacts by releasing an equivalent of 170 million tons of CO2 into our atmosphere.
As part of the endeavor to reduce climate change impacts, GIZ Indonesia/ASEAN implementing #IndustryDecarbonization Thematic work Area, under ExploRE (project), projected to reduce and avoid at least two 3 million tons of CO2 equivalent emission by 2025. But this number is very small compared to the gigantic total volume of Indonesia's methane emission potential.
To amplify the mitigation effort, agro-industrial waste utilization can play the savior role. More methane emissions mitigated, more clean energy generated. The call is clear. Our action is needed.

Taking🤝🏻collaborative actions to #BeatPlasticPollution has continued to be our priority agenda, particularly to protect the environment and to support sustainable consumption and production.
With this momentum, the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime and Investment Affairs Republic of Indonesia together with GIZ Indonesia & ASEAN through the Collaborative Actions for Single Use Plastic Prevention in Southeast Asia (CAP SEA) project held a closing event with overarching theme “Collaborative Actions to Beat Plastic Pollution” at Novotel Malioboro, Yogyakarta on 16 March 2023.
The closing event welcomed project partners and relevant stakeholders to:
📂 deliver CAP SEA project deliverables
📤 disseminate relevant policy recommendations for upstream measures.
💬 facilitate strategic and interactive discussion on SUP reduction and preparation for reuse.
📽️ showcase initiatives to beat plastic pollution.
We thank all panellists, the representatives from Kementerian Lingkungan Hidup dan Kehutanan, Kementerian Perindustrian, Badan Riset dan Inovasi Nasional RI (BRIN RI), Indonesia National Plastic Action Partnership (NPAP), members of Packaging and Recycling Association for Indonesia Sustainable Environment (PRAISE) and participants for their presence, participation, and contribution to make the event a success.
We also thank the exhibitors Gerakan Indonesia Diet Kantong Plastik, ZWLL Enviu, CommonSeas, and Siklus for showcasing reuse initiatives.
Although the implementation of the CAP SEA project just completed its journey in Indonesia, its legacy remains.

It's time for Indonesia 🇮🇩 to Reuse, No Single-Use. Let's join #ReuseRevolution now! 🙌
We should deal with facts that during the COVID-19 pandemic, the single-use plastics (SUP) from online food delivery (OFD) nearly doubled[1]. Without intervention, this number will remain high even after the pandemic as many consumers intend to continue using (99%) and increase their use (96%) of OFD services[2].
As a result, many are on the look-out to come up with sustainable solutions to reduce the use of SUPs. Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH through The Collaborative Action on Single-Use Plastic Prevention in Southeast Asia (CAP SEA) project together with ALLAS by Zero Waste Living Lab (a program by Enviu - Innovators in sustainability) and Gerakan Indonesia Diet Kantong Plastik (GIDKP) join hands to promote the use of reusable packaging.
The beauty of reusable packaging is that ALLAS' members can return reusable food containers. In this way, containers are kept within the ecosystem through the concept of reuse and customers can order takeaways without feeling guilty. Let’s join the #ReuseRevolution.
