The time has come for us to announce Lorum Old Rectory's retirement as a bed and breakfast. Betty started welcoming guests in 1963, so we won't hazard a guess as to how many of you may have visited in the past 60 years; but we carry forward the most wonderful memories of celebrations, weekend escapes, visitors from all over the world and those from this beautiful island we call home. Thank you to each and every one of you who visited, we loved having you all to stay.

This year we added a little to the Christmas collection, a carved Nativity set, possibly Mexican found at an antiques emporium in Point Pleasant NJ, the candle cloche is a gift from Cologne, and our dried flowers come from the garden at Mad About Flowers (just around the corner from us here)
No Christmas hall-stand would be complete without a little stained glass from Bobbie.

It's been a busy couple of months here with some new arrivals courtesy of Maud. Seems like only yesterday I was posting photos of her as a puppy and I'm now posting photos of her puppies. I promise to try and get a couple of good shots before they find their new homes.

Tonight the harvest will be celebrated in Lorum Church. It was built just prior to the building of Kilgreaney School and Lorum Rectory. We are also celebrating our own harvest here. We have been gifted with plenty. Thanksgiving is well deserved.

Today is the last day to bid on a stay here at Lorum (or another fab property). The auction organised by Josephine Ryan is aiming to raise £50,000 for urgent humanitarian aid in Ukraine by auctioning stays in some beautiful private homes around Europe and the U.S.

We have been terribly quiet on social media of late but at last we have news to share with you all!
We know everybody has been doing their best for the Ukraine but our friend Josephine Ryan has been busier than many. She has arranged a charity auction of some truly stunning homestays. When she reached out to us to see if we would be interested in helping her cause we of course said yes... we are so grateful for the opportunity to do our bit. The auction is live until this Sunday afternoon and bidders will be spoiled for choice.
Our lot is a stay for up to six people for two nights with dinner included on a night of your choosing.

Donations will be matched by the British government (Josephine is based in the UK) and the proceeds will be shared between the Red Cross and other organisations coordinated by the Disasters Emergency Committee.

Please share with any of your friends/colleagues/relations/neighbours/children/parents/etc/etc that you feel might be interested.

The joy of decluttering! A review of Lorum in Betty and Bus' time from travel section in October 1980. Not sure if they would have appreciated being referred to as "too old" for farmwork but they got a lovely sense of Betty's pride in what our beautiful little county has to offer.
