My favourite experience in Sri Lanka. Watching these beautiful and highly intelligent animals roaming free as nature intended. From males to families with baby ellies 🐘, the messers and risk takers, plus a very pregnant female (22 months 🫣).

The Dambulla Cave Temples are the largest and bestpreserved rock cave temple complex in Sri Lanka, towering 160 m over the surrounding plains with more than 80 documented caves in the surrounding area. The site is of particular interest for anyone who loves historic art, as five of the caves contain ancient statues and paintings related to and depicting Lord Buddha and his life.
The climb from the base is not strenuous and can be done at a leisurely pace. It takes approximately 30 minutes.
Out of respect, shoes and socks should be removed before entering.

Our sunrise climb of Sigiriya Rock was possibly my most spectacular experience. 1236 steps to reach the top, tough but 1000% worth every step.
This is a must do experience in Sri Lanka and definitely for sunrise. You will either cry, laugh, or both at the same time.
The scenery is spectacular as is the fortress ruins at the top.
