Bridget’s Montessori was founded in 1997 and has grown in size and child numbers ever since. Meath, and situated next door to the local Boys and Girls National schools. For the past two years we have been engaged in the Siolta Quality Assurance Programme which is managed by the Early Years Education Policy Unit (EYEPU) within the Department of Children and Youth Affairs (DCYA). The Siolta Quality

Assurance Programme was run through the Early Childhood Ireland organisation, of which we are a member, and we are currently awaiting accreditation of our Quality Service. We are registered with the HSE and are guided by and’ adhere to the Child Care (Pre-School Services) (No2) Regulations 2006. Our Inspection Reports, carried out by the HSE pre-school inspectors, are freely and openly available for viewing by all parents. We have an open door policy and parents and families are always welcome. Parents/Guardians are kept up to date with their children’s overall growth and development by means of our observational reports and regular feedback from all our staff members. We recognise that parents are the primary educators of their children, and we work alongside parents to promote their children’s overall development, putting great emphasis on the principles of Aistear (the early childhood curriculum) the child’s Well-being, Identity & belonging, Communicating and Exploring & Thinking. Outdoor Play features greatly within our curriculum and almost everything we do inside can be done outside also. We provide rain gear for the children which means we can go outside every day regardless of the weather. Our Montessori Pre-school provides a safe, healthy, happy and prepared environment, indoors and outdoors, for all the children and adults within the setting. We provide the children with experiences, activities and materials which are appropriate to their individual age and stage of development, allowing them to progress at their own pace. We embrace diversity and are committed to equal opportunity for all Adults, Children and their Families within our service.

Great fun was had over the past number of weeks, from talking about the solar eclipse the children had a great interest in space so we decided to have a week on space, we made fizzy stars and lots of art work for our display on the wall. Another interest was fishing so some of the children made there own fishing rods. We discussed all about the importance of safety around water (going to the sea or swimming pool). The children done a great job singing for our graduation party and we celebrated with a lovely picnic outside. We had a lovely visit from the farmer with his tractor the children got to climb onto the tractor and beep the horn. We wish everyone a lovely summer from the ladybird room 🐞 we look forward to seeing some of the boys and girls back in September and good luck to the children going on to primary school.

🦋 Butterflies room 🦋 ~some pictures of the past few weeks

*A simple search in the garden for bugs quickly gathers interest from more children and before long , a group effort to collect petals, sticks, grass, rocks & water begins . "Look, its insect soup', 'A bug swimming pool!', 'A potion! ' were just some of the creations. A potion/perfume station set up led to endless learning opportunities & interesting concoctions 👨‍🔬👩‍🔬

We were delighted to welcome back teacher Paula this week 🥰

*Pretending to use laptops inspires making of own laptops which have been played with all week💻

*Exploration with pipes & watering cans on the hill develops into 'A Waterpark. Our Waterpark!' ..Wonderful to watch the team effort, problem solving & imagination at play.

Today we had our Sports day🏅 followed by a picnic outside. Well done to all the boys and girls. Such a fun & funny morning 🙂

🐝🐝Some recent photos from the Bumble Bee Room 🐝 🐝

Last week we talked about all the different modes of transport and how we can travel by rail, road, sea, air and land! 🚗🚂🚜🚲🏍🛣⛵🛳✈
We had great fun with the outdoor car wash and our interests varied from making pasta necklaces to building tall towers and the barbie dolls!

Last Friday we also had a lovely visit from some of the teachers from Duleek Girls National School to help make the transition from preschool to primary school a little easier for the children.

Yesterday we spent most of our day outdoors as we held our sports day, played some games and also enjoyed a lovely lunch time picnic out on the front lawn! There was lots of den, fort, castle and camp building happening this week so we extended this interest by setting up a little campfire and tent outside. ☀️🏕

🦋 Some pictures of the past few weeks in The Butterflies Room 🦋
We explored the topic of transport following a fabulous morning of play we observed.. the children made a class train with their chairs , they made tickets and the train driver took them on a trip to Dublin stopping at the 'restaurant' for lunch. 🚂

A story shared about getting an x-ray (& a love of plasters 😄) developed into a Hospital/ Doctors surgery. We had a waiting room, a Reception, the Doctors office & surgery.. lots of patients arriving with injuries followed by lots of medical care given by our 'Front line workers' ❤

The children also learnt about sea animals. They 'made muddy puddles' in the garden during rainy days, planted & watered flowers, were ninjas, built robots, explored the construction area outside & enjoyed a visit from the teachers in Duleek B.N.S this week. 🙂

This week and last the Bumble bee room have been exploring a wide variety of occupations! Through discussion & play we explored the roles of construction workers, hairdressers, Gardai, firefighters, Mammies & Daddies, Vets, Doctors & Nurses, shop keepers & teachers. All very important jobs! ❤👮‍♂️👨‍🚒👩‍🏫👷‍♂️👩‍✈️💇‍♀️❤

We also talked about our Mammies and Daddies jobs and what we would like to be when we grow up.

From playing what time is it Mr. Wolf outside, some of the children became interested in the time so we discussed numbers and some made their own clocks! ⏰ we also planted some flowers out in our garden 🌼🌻🌱

On Thursday we also had a lovely visit from some of the teachers from Duleek Boys NS to help make the transition from preschool to primary school a little easier. 😊

The boys and girls in the ladybird room 🐞 have been very busy for the past two weeks learning all about different types of animals we had washing the animals, animal painting with footprints, animal tracing and our very own zoo with cuddly toys. The children had a keen interest in babies so we decided to have a baby week too the children washed and took great care of Daniel and Sam ( the children named the babies) We also planted some flowers in our new planters.

With lots of talk about the Zoo opening and visits to Tayto Park to visit the animals our theme for the Bumble bee room this week soon became The Zoo! 🦧🐯🦁🦓🐆🐅🐊

We were very busy indeed.... building zoo's with wooden blocks, we painted animal prints and made prints with playdough, we made some art & craft lions and crocodiles, we also made some animal masks to pretend play with out in the playground.

So then we decided what would be more fun but to have our own zoo at school! We used some cuddly toy animals and there was great excitement! We coloured a map of our school and added some animal stickers, designed our own zoo tickets and took turns being the ticket office person and the customers. Great team work co operation and social skills was observed and lots of fun had! 😊
