The Rock of Cashel County Tipperary, was the traditional seat of the kings of Munster for several hundred years prior to the Norman invasion. In 1101, the King of Munster, Muirchertach Ua Briain, donated his fortress on the Rock to the Church. The picturesque complex has a character of its own and is one of the most remarkable collections of Celtic art and medieval architecture to be found anywhere in Europe.Few remnants of the early structures survive; the majority of buildings on the current site date from the 12th and 13th centuries.
It's truly a beautiful place to visit.

The Murder Hole, a.k.a. Boyeeghter Bay, Donegal. Now widely regarded as one of the most beautiful beaches in Ireland.

I first visited many years ago, when the place was barely known outside of the local area. In recent years it has become much more widely known and pictures emerged last year of traffic chaos at the site as hordes of people flocked to this previously 'hidden' gem.

I decided to pay a visit Thursday evening, thinking it would be relatively quiet. Sure enough there were no other cars parked when I arrived, but there was new signage forbidding access, new barbed wire, a chained padlock on the gate, and thick grease spread over the bars of the gate. Such a shame that it has come to this.

In the end I went to the nearby Tra na Rossan beach and hiked across the hill until I was close enough to get the drone up before the sun had completely set.
