We are very passionate about the topic of children's diet and health and feel all children should be given the necessary skills and information on how to cook.

Minicooks is a Cork based company providing cookery parties for boys and girls from the ages of 5 years old upwards.We also do family cookery lesssons, midnight feast parties for sleep-overs, summer camps and much more. We offer a large and exciting (and mostly healthy!) variety of children's cookery parties and cookery classes with age appropriate menus and activities within Cork City and County.

Cookery Parties:
Our packages can be tailored to suit your individual needs and suit anyone from the age of 5 years upwards. We can provide everything needed for your child's party - from the invitations, ingredients, birthday cake, goodie bags and of course aprons and chefs hats to protect the children while they cook and have fun! Cookery Classes:
Our cookery classes take place during school holidays and Saturdays.

As science week 2016 comes to an end, we conducted an experiment with eggs in glasses of water that Clara learned at school. One egg floated and one didn't with the addition of salt to the water...guess which glass contained the salt water? The kids were fascinated!

One of the nicest treats I've made in a long while...Salted Caramel Quinoa Pop Bars. The recipe 'popped' up on my Facebook feed last week. The recipe was made on RTE's Today Show last week. You pop the uncooked quinoa like popcorn and mix it in with a date,maple syrup and peanut butter paste/caramel. 😋

Sarah enjoying the post Irish dancing healthy muffins we made for the first time today. We simply blended 3 eggs,2 bananas, 40g coconut flour with 1tsp baking powder and a dash of vanilla extract and spooned the mix into 12 muffin cases and topped with a few chocolate chips before baking for 15 minutes.Now if I could only get her to take off her new boots that she insists on wearing all day ☺

Minicook # 3 loving searching and finding pears from our bumper crop this year! This tree was my first mother's day present over 4 and a half years ago and only now it's producing. If anyone has suggestions of what to do/make with them please let me know!

The finished apple pie - Moll's Gap Avoca Apple Pie..it was delicious😋.Honestly the nicest apple pie ever! We celebrated my birthday and my parents wedding anniversary with my brother and his family in London with Skype on the table for the duration.🎉🎊🎂🎈🎁👰

There is nothing like pancakes on a Sunday morning!Easily made by whizzing two eggs,with a banana,dash of vanilla extract and half a teaspoon of baking powder.They were wolfed down by three hungry monsters this morning after their porridge.

How young does Neven Maguire look in this book I borrowed from the library?!Its seems to be full of family friendly recipes.We made chicken dippers last week,with curry powder mixed through the breadcrumbs which were really tasty. The girls loved dipping the chicken in the flour,egg then breadcrumbs. And I am slowly getting over my fear of letting them handle raw meat and eggs as I think they are getting sensible and will listen to me when I tell them not to lick their fingers or they will get sick!

What fabulous weather we are having!And as a result we have been making healthy cooling treats.These yogurt drops are perfect for little hands
to eat and even make.We simply put natural yogurt with a few spoons of vanilla yogurt(for taste and to keep the sugar content low ) into a freezer bag. We snipped off the corner of the bag and piped blobs of yogurt onto a tray lined with parchment paper and then put them in the freezer until the drops were hard! So easy and the flavour options are endless.Add sprinkles or chocolate drops on top to make them even more of a treat!

And here is the finished Number 5 Cake...covered in smarties as Clara requested since last November! We had three rounds of happy birthday and candle blowing to celebrate her Grandad's birthday tomorrow and her Uncle Dave's birthday next week. Meringue for Grandad and a giant chocolate chip cookie for Uncle Dave!

Here's hoping these two cakes look like a number five cake after I carve,ice and decorate them in the morning in time for Clara's fifth birthday party tomorrow.I also hope that the fruit we will be eating for the rest of the week will
balance out the treats that we will be having at the party!

Recipe: Apple and cinnamon mini scones

Ingredients:
1 eating apple,grated
250g self raising flour
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp cinnamon
40g butter
1 egg
100ml milk

Method:
1. Heat oven to 200 degrees celcius
2. Place flour,baking powder and cinnamon in a bowl,and rub in the butter until mixture resembles breadcrumbs.
3. Stir in grated apple
4. Beat milk and egg together, and stir most of it into the dry mixture.Mix to a soft dough.
5. Gather dough together and turn out onto lightly floured surface and roll to 2cm thick.
6. Cut out scones (makes 16-18 mini scones) and brush with remaining egg/ milk mix.
7. Bake for 8-19 minutes until golden.
