Mossie's Tours, in many ways, are totally focused on providing an authentic experience for those who wish to join him in Ireland, the land of his birth. It is because of his own authenticity that he can provide exactly that, in such a natural way, without any great effort. Everything seems to pour naturally out of his heart and soul. He speaks of his country, his heritage, his culture, his languag

e. Just like he sings about them, with passion, and why would he not? After all he is the 8th generation of his family on a direct line, to be born into the small village of Baile an Lochaig, at the foot of Mount Brandon. He often refers to his village as being so small they had to bring it in when it rained! Ironically, what really nurtured Mossie's love for everything Irish is the fact that he, in search of a living, had to leave it at age 17. Yes he will talk of the ups and downs of emigration in both modern times and times past. He will not mince his words when he talks of the mass movement of people out of his country against their will, but always finding the positive in talking of how his people thrived against the odds. He will bring a tear to your eye and a smile to your cheek, but more of the latter. He will take all the left and right turns into every nuke and cranny of his beloved Kerry and further afield if you wish. He will tell her stories, sing her songs, and pour into your heart the many anecdotes of what it means to be Irish. He will transport you around her breath taking coastlines, and in between, in comfort and style. Should you wish you will experience the days of turf cutting first hand with him, the sheep shearing, the milking of a cow. You may walk in mystical hidden valleys, off the tourist trail, and amongst rivers, streams and old ruins, and he will relate to you the stories of each one of them. Mossie is a Fáilte Ireland certified tour guide. Groups of up to 20 people can be facilitated. Mossie is at times joined by his partner, Helen, who, with a BA in Theology, understands the sacredness and spirituality of the Irish landscape.

Eamon "The Green Highwayman" Ryan of the Green Party has announced plans to introduce a toll on the Fenit - Tralee Greenway. Citing concerns over the environmental impact of rubber tire wear, Ryan insists that it's time for cyclists to pump the brakes and lace up their walking shoes instead. "We need to wean off these carbon-emitting contraptions and embrace the noble act of putting one foot in front of the other," Ryan declared, as outraged cyclists threatened to chain themselves to their beloved two-wheelers. Critics have dubbed the scheme "The Pedestrian's Paradise Tax," with one cyclist quipping, "Next thing you know, they'll be taxing us for breathing too much oxygen!" Whether this is a bold step towards a greener future or just a flat tire waiting to happen remains to be seen.

Socraíodh ag cruinniú práinneach den gComharchumann, a bhí againn níos luaithe inniu, an Comórtas Tráth na gCeist Boird a bhí beartaithe do Ionad An Bhlascaoid ar 19.00 uair amárach, 28 Nollaig, a chur ar athló go dtí an Aoine 9 Feabhra seo chugainn.

Is mar gheall ar bhás Fheargail Mac Amhlaoibh, ball dílis oirirc den gcoiste le blianta agus mar chomartha ómóis dó féin agus dá mhuintir a thángthas ar an gcinneadh sin. Ba mhaith leis an gComharchumann comhbhrón ó chroí a dhéanamh le teaghlach Mhic Amhlaoibh ar fad.
Go dtuga Dia sólás dóibh ar fad ina n-ochlán. Go mbí leaba i measc na naomh ar fad ag a anam uasal.

Ní dhearna Feargal faillí riamh i gcur chun cinn an chultúir dúchais. Ó sea, tá duine de laochra móra na Gaeltachta imithe uainn.

After succumbing to a fever of some sort in 1705, Irish woman Margorie McCall was hastily buried to prevent the spread of whatever had done her in. Margorie was buried with a valuable ring, which her husband had been unable to remove due to swelling. This made her an even better target for body snatchers, who could cash in on both the co**se and the ring.

The evening after Margorie was buried, before the soil had even settled, the grave-robbers showed up and started digging. Unable to pry the ring off the finger, they decided to cut the finger off. As soon as blood was drawn, Margorie awoke from her coma, sat straight up and screamed.

The fate of the grave-robbers remains unknown. One story says the men dropped dead on the spot, while another claims they fled and never returned to their chosen profession.

Margorie climbed out of the hole and made her way back to her home......

Her husband John, a doctor, was at home with the children when he heard a knock at the door. He told the children, “If your mother were still alive, I’d swear that was her knock.”

When he opened the door to find his wife standing there, dressed in her burial clothes, blood dripping from her finger but very much alive, he dropped dead to the floor. He was buried in the plot Margorie had vacated.

Margorie went on to re-marry and have several more children. When she did finally die, she was returned to Shankill Cemetery in Lurgan, Ireland, where her gravestone still stands. It bears the inscription “Lived Once, Buried Twice.”
