Literature and adventure come to West Cork as writers celebrate 70th Anniversary of Garinish Island coming into the care of the Irish state. ‘Crosstown Drift Goes to Garinish’ an event has been created by the OPW and Cork cultural organisation, the Good Room over two days Saturday 12th & Sunday 13th August.

Great news !!!

ADVANCE NOTICE: From Monday next week work will be taking place to replace the footbridge from the Nature Reserve's main carpark onto the River Walk. The old bridge has needed replacing for some time and National Parks and Wildlife Service is delighted to have recieved funding this year for a new bridge. It will have ramps with handrails to make it more accessible to those with limited mobility, children's buggies, etc.

Construction will last 4-6 weeks and during this time the River Walk will be closed. The main car park will remain open and the Big Meadow Trail will be accessible via the avenue and Power's Bog. Signage will be in place to direct walkers. Apologies in advance for any inconvenience but we trust visitors will appreciate the end result.
