The Sri Lankan tea plantations are fascinating to explore, the women who pick the tea work incredibly hard. Sri Lankans really seem to be so proud of the quality tea produced here. Check out the beauty of the plantations.

Sunrise climb of Sigiriya... the 4.15am wake up was so worth it. We got to the top, after 1236 steps, just on time to catch the sunrise. If you come to Sri Lanka, this needs to be top of your list. The site dates back to the reign of King Kasyapa (477-495 AD), who chose this site as his new capital. He decorated the walls with frescoes, and built an impressive palace right on top of the rock column, accessible only through the mouth of an enormous carved lion. Sadly only the lions paws remain, but you can still view the frescos and the ruins of the fortress on the top. Breathing!
