A definite changing trend in recent years is that demand for our Christmas produce is getting earlier and earlier each year.
It is only the 16th of October but our first truck for export this 2023 season is almost full and ready for road!

Despite lots of samples and small orders already being shipped out, unseasonably mild weather meant it was too early to start our main Noble Fir harvest.
Our first two trucks are going for export this coming week, so a light grass frost on Friday night followed by a hard ground frost last night (Saturday) is hugely welcome to help shut down the trees and seal up the foliage prior to cutting.

We travelled to Italy to meet our ribbon suppliers, Francesco Brizzolari.
Italy is renowned for it’s excellent quality ribbon, which is far superior to cheaper Chinese product.
Francesco Brizzolari are one of Italy’s leading suppliers of poly ribbon, textile ribbon, paper ribbon, rafia, bows and packaging products.
We are sole distributors for all Brizzolari products in Ireland and the UK.
We have been unable to visit the factory for some time because of the pandemic, so it was great to once again meet the team face to face and discuss some exciting new ideas, view their latest products and inspect the production of some of our 2023 Christmas range to ensure top quality for you, the customer.
We are very focused on sustainability, and Brizzolari are certainly moving with the times when it comes to our environment. With this in mind, they source all their energy used for production from renewable resources such as water, wind and solar energy, certified by the “Guarantee Of Origin” programme.
We will also be offering polypropylene ribbon and pullbows, now made from 100% recycled material which is a massive development.
We have came up with some beautiful new designs and will be offering many new products to our range for 2023!
FACO Germany design and build many useful machines for the wreath making and floristry industry.
We are sole distributors of all FACO products in Ireland and the UK.
We use several of their machines for our own wreath production, but we recently visited them in Germany to see some of their other machines in action.
In the video below is the FACO Compact stem cleaning & cutting machine.
This machine has both soft and hard rubber brushes which rotate to clean a wide variety of flowers and foliage stems, without damaging the stem itself.
The machine has multiple speed settings.
The machine also has a built in cutting mechanism which gives a fresh, angled cut to the stems before going in water.
As the name suggests, it’s compact size makes it ideal for small work areas, as it takes up very little space.
A collection bag attaches to the bottom of the machine to gather any waste and offcuts to keep your workplace clean and tidy.
Widely used by florists all across Europe, this machine is a must have for any serious florist!

Christmas is not just for Christmas!
For us all at Conor Browne Wreaths, Christmas is all year round! As soon as Christmas is over, we are straight into planning and sourcing for the next one… visiting suppliers from around the globe to bring you the very best and latest products.
What’s more, every product we sell, we use ourselves in our own production. So you can rest assured that whatever product you buy from us, will do exactly the job it’s intended for and not just come with an attractive sales pitch.
Below is one such instance and a brand new product for our 2023 range. Lots of our customers have had issues with artificial red berry picks from other suppliers, and we have been inundated with requests for waterproof berries. Almost all of these berry picks are made with polystyrene balls and cheap red coatings.
Many people sell berries as waterproof berries, but they simply aren’t. Ireland and the UK get lots of rain, and we are conscious that a lot of our wreaths and other products end up outdoors on graves etc and get exposed to the elements. After some rain, the red coating washes off the berries and we are left with an unsightly clump of white balls!
We have searched a long time to find the correct coating and our hard work seems to be paying off.
Below is some of our brand new 2023 wreath decorations. We have done extensive testing so you don’t have to!
We have water tested our new coating against a competitors version, and exposed both to water for 72 hours. The top cup is a sample piece of the most expensive red berry pick from one of our competitors, and in the bottom cup is our own berry pick with the new coating.
The results speak for themselves! 😉

We were delighted to welcome the film crew from RTE to Mountain View Farm to film the Ear To The Ground Christmas Special!
We had an amazing day, with beautiful clear blue skies and a fresh fall of snow across the Wicklow hills. We couldn’t have asked for a better Christmas atmosphere!
They showcased many areas of my business, and discussed how we started and how we found our feet in farming having not come from a traditional farming background and having zero qualifications or farming experience.
We started our morning by visiting one of our many outfarms where we grow Noble Fir trees. The foliage from these trees is harvested, and the raw material is then used to make our many Christmas wreaths which end up in shops all across Ireland, the UK and Europe. We covered the whole production process from start to finish, and the crew even had a go at making their own wreaths! 😊
We also showcased our special flock of Shropshire sheep which are used for w**d control and fertilising amongst our trees, as an environmentally friendly alternative to the use of Round Up and other w**dkiller sprays.
We then covered lots of areas on Mountain View farm including cut foliage production of Eucalyptus and other plants for use in flower bouquets and floristry work.
They also covered in detail our sustainability grown Irish Christmas trees for the wholesale market, both for export and the domestic market.
Our “Choose and Cut” operation also features heavily, where members of the public can visit our farm to pick their own tree and visit our animal farm, see our sleeping Santa Grotto, Nativity crib and other attractions.
They captured amazing panoramic drone footage of our snow covered farms and the beautiful Wicklow sunset. Thanks to all the team for your hard work!
