A windy day at Inishark producing a good few fish and plenty of tangles. A Porbeagle swiped a couple of Po***ck earlier. I’ve never seen Porbeagle here in such numbers, maybe the sounder is explain why they are about. We will have a look for that lad tomorrow when there’s less people a easier winds.

nice fishing on Wednesday out off Clare island with a group from Athlone. Not a sign of a porbeagle though in spite of steady stream of fish coming up to the boat. Back North of Inishboffin today Thursday with a lot less fish on the ground we had another Porbeagle. Feisty fish with a feisty NW breeze but the master on the rod so all was well.!

Lots of fish about this year including Porbeagles. Not one we get to often but I was alerted to them being about yesterday when an absolute whopper swiped a po***ck off a line. Went out for a look with the right gear today and had 4 runs and this small one 70 lbs? to the boat.

Some lovely days last week with Jelle and Willem Zikkenheiner and Dominc Lautier who have been fishing with me since the early 1990's. Beautiful weather and only 4 or 5 anglers on board we fishing on the deep reefs. Loads of feed around, whales dolphins and birds all pigging it and the fish getting a much needed boost. Po***ck way up off the bottom with full stomachs. Great days.

The annual "Wall of Death" is firmly in place off the South West coast of Ireland.

How can we expect our stocks to be sustainable and provide a future for our coastal communities when we allow this level of exploitation of our natural resource by foreign fleets?

This concentrated effort by Trawlers, Gillnetters and Longliners prevents a large number of fish species migrating inshore to their traditional breeding grounds and nursery areas resulting in the ongoing demise of Ireland's greatest natural resource.

The yearly free for all bonanza provides no benefit to Ireland or our coastal communities and will only cease when we have government willing to fight for our future!

Took from Galway Bay this week, Fiona K 135 Tonne and Ocean Venture 130 Tonne of SPRAT, they landed catch in Di**le 😡😡😡😡😡😡😡
What do they have on government ministers that they are allowed to pillage the bays around Ireland of juvenile fish, we are killing the future of our Bays !!
Complete and utter madness !!! 🙈

Nice day out mon 11 oct reef fishing around the Barrett Shoals off Slyne Head with plenty of fish but Mack’s scarce in general. So are scad saurys and squid all of who should be here this time of year. Natural cycle? Overfishing? Climate change? Who knows but I do miss garlic squid with sweet chilli sauce.

Neven Maguire and the film crew from Nevens Irish Seafood Trails had a short trip out on Bluewater recently. It was a windy day and they caught some Po***ck and Mackerel in the shelter at the east end of . They were filming John and Sue in their B and B preparing the Sharamore House Special for breakfast, our own Po***ck smoked in Achil Island and took a tip out to try and catch some as well. Looking forward to the next series!
