The Burj Al Arab, which opened in December 1999— exactly one year after I began working in the travel industry — has always been the definition of luxury and opulence. It’s no surprise that it’s often referred to as the '7-star hotel' (even if that is unofficial!).

26 years later, I never imagined I would be spending a couple of nights in this iconic hotel. From the unparalleled service to the breathtaking views, this place lives up to every ounce of the hype.

All stories including our room tour will be saved to my highlights in the next day or so.

Looking back over the photos 📷 and videos from my recent trip to the Maldives, I feel so lucky to have experienced the five stunning island resorts offered by Sun Siyam (Olhuevli, Iru Fushi, Siyam World, Iru Veli & Vilu Reef). It was an incredible opportunity to get a better understand for what makes each one unique, allowing me to offer tailored advice for your perfect getaway🧳, the experience is something I’m beyond grateful for.

Sun Siyam’s resorts offer something for everyone, from the intimate charm of Vilu Reef (which you can walk around in just 14 minutes!) to Siyam World, one of the largest island resorts in the Maldives where every villa features a private pool 🕶️👙, and water villas even come with slides straight into the Indian Ocean

From the chaos of the Medina to the tranquil valleys of the Atlas mountains, Marrakesh has it all and more.

The centre of the city was definitely not as overwhelming, (well certainly not during the day) as I was expecting although the energy skyrocketed after dark.

You could spend hours walking around the side streets of the Medina, wall to wall in market stalls selling everything from pottery to jewellery, spices to chandeliers. The maze of streets which were originally planned as a defence to confuse the enemies and also shelter from the sun were now a true test of our Ryanair luggage limits!

Jemaa el-Fna is the main square, and can be a shock to the system. Snake charmers and monkeys on leads with their owners vying for attention and a few Dirham for a photo opportunity. A much calmer experience can be found at Tinsmith Square. This beautiful square in the old Jewish Quarter is surrounded by restaurants and gorgeously colourful spice markets. While you're there, pop up to the rooftop of Kosybar for great views of the city while you rehydrate and shelter from the Moroccan sun.

One of the biggest surprises was the outstanding quality of food in the restaurants. Although we were only there for 3 nights, we found the food to be exceptionally good. I'll tag the restaurants we visited below.

Taking a day out to visit the villages and valleys of the Atlas Mountains is therapeutic, educational and extremely humbling. The Berber families welcomed us, fed us and showed us a glimpse of their traditional culture and hospitality. A complete contrast in surroundings from the craziness of the city and a very welcome escape after a day of near misses with one of the thousands of scooters flying around the souks 🛵

If Marrakesh has been on your travel wishlist, there is no better time to visit now that Aer Lingus have recently joined Ryanair in flying direct from Dublin. And if it hasn't been on your list, I would absolutely encourage you to add it! 🇲🇦

🌍✨​Rwanda Gorilla Trek Adventure Awaits🦍

I've had the pleasure of spending most of this week having conversations about Gorilla Trekking in Rwanda, and it’s quickly becoming my latest travel obsession! After Sarah from The Travel Expert returned from her unforgettable trip to Rwanda and hosted a Q&A last weekend, it seems I'm not alone in moving this experience to the top of my bucket list!

Sarah shared two popular itineraries in her stories. One combines the Kigali City with Volcanoes National Park for an incredible Golden Monkey and Gorilla Trek. The other extends the adventure with a additional stay in Akagera National Park, home to the Big Five & located the Tanzanian border.

As I'm sitting in Doha Airport, getting ready to board our flight back to Dublin I'm feeling very grateful for the opportunity I've had to spend the last week with incredible colleagues and friends in this fabulous city.

Next time you are flying via Doha, I would urge you to strongly consider a stopover. The quality of accommodation and service here is just fantastic. Combine that with the beaches, souks, desert adventures and fabulous restaurants, it's a great alternative to Dubai and Abu Dhabi. We were lucky enough to stay on the Fairmont Doha which is easily the most iconic and recognisable building in the city. If you are travelling as a family, Kempinski on the Palm is one to look at.

The location of our 2024 Mystery Trip last weekend was to the coastal resort of Ksamil in Albania. Often referred to on social media as 'The Maldives of Europe', I was keen to check it out for ourselves.
We got lots of pretty pictures but there is no doubt Ksamil is also a destination where there is a strong element of Insta v Reality 📸

I spent the first week of my recent annual leave onboard Princess Cruises newly launched ship – Sun Princess. Sailing out of Athens, the itinerary included ports of call in Montenegro, Corfu, Sicily & Naples 🇬🇷🇲🇪🇮🇹

Sun Princess is different to any ship I have cruised on previously. The main unique features include:

• The Piazza – spanning over 3 floors in the heart of the ship wrapped in a sphere of glass allowing the sunlight of the Med to flood in. You will find entertainment throughout the day & night as well as dining venues and the popular International Café ☕

• The Dome – A glass enclosed theatre style dome with plush loungers. A quiet indoor sanctuary during the day and an entertainment venue at night

• Princess Medallion – When you cruise with Princess cruises, rather than a keycard for your cabin, you get a €2 size coin that you wear around your neck or wrist. Your cabin door recognises as you walk towards it and automatically unlocks. You can order food through the Princess App anywhere on the ship and the crew will locate you to deliver it to you and you can easily locate other passengers you are travelling with.

The food and service onboard are excellent and there are several entertainment venues including the beautiful Princess Arena and of course O’Malleys Irish Pub (great entertainment & craic every night!) 🍹

Home to over 2000 natural stone arches, dinosaur footprints, balancing rocks and incredible rock formations. The most famous of all is Delicate Arch. From every angle you're surrounded by iconic red rocks of Utah ❤️
