Did you know that sourdough was historically baked in Ireland before bread soda arrived in the 1800s and made us famous for soda bread! We didn’t, until we met Chris Brownlow- The Gentlemen Baker and former Potato Farmer for Ireland’s much-loved Tayto crisps (we LOVE that detail!).💚

At his home in the Boyne Valley in beautiful County Meath, Chris delivers fun-filled and thought-provoking sourdough bread making experiences that are delicious and good for your health. Who knew?! ✨

Remember during the pandemic when there was a sourdough craze and it all seemed so complicated with keeping starters on the go – well Chris has a much simpler approach to all of that. Phew – the pressure is off and the whole whoweareireland team are now committed to weekly sourdough bakes.🍞

We absolutely love legends and stories here at Who We Are Ireland, so we were delighted to catch up with the legend himself Paddy Byrne from Sliabh Liag Boat Trips 🚤💚
A boat trip with Paddy or one of his skippers is the absolute best way to view the highest seacliiffs in Europe. You can get close to the cliffs and go for a dip in the crystal-clear water whilst hearing stories from this iconic area that is steeped in history. 🌊

Paddy's Tips when visiting Donegal ⏳️❓️😎

⏳️Give yourself plenty of time to experience as many attractions and activities as you can, but don't come to tick a box. Really, take your time to enjoy your experience

❓️When you get here, ask questions. You can use Google, but you will find out far more from the local people who will update you on everything that is happening in the area

😎I'm a bit biased with what to do in Donegal, but I will say, "Come to Sliabh Liag and see the wild landscapes climb to the top of the Cliffs as well as enjoying our Sliagh Liag boat trip.
Always remember, we are on the north Atlantic, and it's not always like a postcard. The weather is always changing, it rains, the wind blows, and the sun shines.
If you come here on a bad day, make the best of it because it's nature at its best and can be a photographers paradise.

Thank you to Gavan Woods & Dean William Morton for a wonderful welcome to St Patrick's Cathedral this morning during our Clogher Valley FAM trip. We would highly recommend a visit to learn about Ireland's story and be truly inspired with knowledgeable guides passionate about our history. As the largest cathedral and one of the most important pilgrimage sites in Ireland, Saint Patrick’s has been at the heart of Dublin and Ireland’s history and culture for over 800 years. Their story is a microcosm of the story of Ireland. We had the opportunity to look at St Patrick's Cathedral timeline and learned more about the development including the fascinating characters who make St Patrick's Cathedral's story what it is today. Saint Patrick’s Cathedral is the National Cathedral of the Church of Ireland. The building serves as a place of worship, a visitor attraction and as a host for many events. It certainly wasn't a blue Monday for us as we have been exploring the Boyne Valley with our final stop at Trim Castle Hotel on our Clogher Valley FAM trip.
