On Easter Monday, members of the Irish Volunteers, Irish Citizen Army and Cumann na mBan took control of several key buildings across Dublin city centre. This would forever change the course of Irish history.
One of the leaders to be executed was Joseph Mary Plunkett. Grace Gifford was his fiance and the namesake of one of the songs written about the love between Joseph and Grace but also about his love for his country.
