Great mini doco series on Antarctica - The Great Sanctuary! The boat that they are making the documentary on the Hans Hansson was our sister ship for our sailboat Ocean Tramp when we were there!! We were very grateful for it as it held much of our stores, fuel etc. for the 3 months we lived there.

This doco was made the season before we were there. great to see the footage and message!!

With record-high temperatures reaching Antarctica, the crew witnesses firsthand the devastating impact of warmer weather and melting ice.

In 2019 we were the first sail boat of the season to reach vernadsky Ukrainian research station. As the summer season was just starting the ice was just breaking up enough, for our small sail boat navigation was manageable and the scientists were delighted to welcome us and have a few drinks of celebration.

Great article on Vernadsky here:
