The longest running walking tour in Dublin - established 1986 - is led by history graduates of Trinity College and UCD, all of them with a passion for today's city and its past.

Particularly popular at the moment with school/college groups, this tour explores the Irish revolution. Led by guides who have written on the subject.

In 1912 Ireland was part of the United Kingdom; a decade later, most of Ireland had left it forever. This was the Irish Revolution, and Dublin was its cockpit. From the labour conflicts of 1913 to the open war of the Easter Rising and the guerilla war that followed: all of these, and much else besid...

Perhaps a redeveloped Dalymount Park would be the ideal home for a museum dedicated to the story of Irish football, encompassing everything from Harold Sloan to the Drums.

This tour is perfect for school and university groups during this Decade of Centenaries!

"In 1912 Ireland was part of the United Kingdom; a decade later, most of Ireland had left it forever. This was the Irish Revolution, and Dublin was its cockpit. From the labour conflicts of 1913 to the open war of the Easter Rising and the guerilla war that followed: all of these, and much else besides, took place amidst the shabby grandeur of Ireland’s capital city.

This tour will explain this extraordinary decade on the streets that witnessed it. Unionists, nationalists, Home Rulers and Republicans, the IRA and the ‘Black and Tans’, Free Staters and Irregulars, ordinary Dublin citizen’s, communists and even a king and queen: all have their part to play on this walk through Revolutionary Dublin."

Do you have a wall in your house that looks something like this? Stacked to the ceiling with stuff? We bet you do.
People of Dublin: we want your detritus. Over the next few weeks, the museum hopes to acquire many collections of small things with a connection to Dublin. It could be 65 or 665 Dublin sweets, letters, or shells. Maybe you own a collection of matchboxes, business cards, confectionery, groceries, shampoos, bottle tops, body parts, toothpastes, passport photos or drivers’ licences. Among the collections already acquired by the museum is a set of tennis balls discarded by the dogs of Dun Laoghaire, 1997-2017.
To apply, please send a photo of your collection - and a short description - to [email protected] before 5pm on Friday, December 14th.
