If the ball will not stay on the mat, move the mat to the nearest point, not nearer the hole, where the ball will stay on the mat. There is no penalty for a ball moving on the mat.
A putter may be used anywhere without the need for a mat.
BUNKERS
Bunkers remain in play unless marked GUR.

RELIEF FOR EMBEDDED BALL
Temporary Local Winter Rule:
Free relief is allowed only when a ball is embedded in part of the general area that is cut to fairway height or less and revetted faces of bunkers only.
A ball embedded in its own pitch-mark in the revetted face of a bunker, may be lifted, without penalty, cleaned and dropped, outside the bunker, as near as possible to where it lay but not nearer the hole.
*This temporary local rule has been introduced to protect the revetted faces of bunkers and applies whilst 6” placing (Preferred Lies) are in play.
