It was a hectic week back to work with courses and assessments. Another MS assessment in The Comeraghs for SEMRA, a CWI training in Dublin, an RCI assessment on The Burren and a 1:1 climbing session too, so it was cool to get out for dinner and pints with friends last night and have a couch day watching the olympics today. The next few weeks look a little less hectic thankfully, time to get back climbing for myself after a few weeks off the rock.

Lots of amazing days at Ailladie with friends lately.

I took a break at the start of May and headed to Sligo & Donegal with . We hiked a few mountains and some forest trails, went to amazing beaches, checked out loads of awesome cafes and did the odd touristy thing. It was all class! One of our all time favourite holidays! I dont know the northwest all that well, so we brought book with us and used it like a travel guide. So cool to be a tourist at home, get to hike in new places and get the weather for it too.

I was working in sometimes sunny Dalkey this weekend with teaching Trad climbing and helping these awesome people take their first steps to leading trad routes. The quarry was full of folk getting out too, good to see the season kicking off between the showers.

After Finland, I met up with in Oslo and we drove to Rjukan. A scenic town in a mountainous region with an amazing history and easily accessible ice climbing. Ive done very little ice climbing and had never lead a decent pitch before, so it was cool to hop on lead on easier pitches and top rope some harder pitches. We got lots of mileage in over the 3 days and it was nice to be back at the novice stage again with a new discipline of climbing. Moving above gear on trad can be scary at times, but moving above ice screws is another level. Jono mostly just built snow caves and heckled me while climbing.

Being a good Instructor, a professional in my industry and maintaining high standards are all strong values of mine.
I've always thought being a good Instructor is not just about my existing experience and qualifications, but about regular upskilling, working alongside other professionals, sharing ideas and continuous education.
After a weekend working alongside a number of amazing Instructors delivering a variety of training courses, it was cool to be a participant on a training course myself yesterday.
Thanks to and for organising a great CPD event for . Great to meet other professionals committed to high standards and personal development.

A busy few days, in Wicklow running a Mountain Leader training course alongside , a 1:1 Mountain Leader reassessment and a CWI assessment for a sound bunch of strong climbers in Limerick yesterday. Congratulations to all the strong passes!

Looking forward to some downtime the next few days on a short climbing trip! 🇫🇷🥖🥐

Good craic working on a trad climbing course this week. We lucked out with the weather on 4 of the days and took a couch day off in the middle for storm Ciaran.

Gráinne and Gabriel were up for it either way and got a solid amount of mileage in over the week. Theres so many facets to becoming a confident independent trad leader, but we had the time to spend to get it right and lots of empty single pitch crags to ourselves.

Im always so psyched to see people progress in the space of a week, from top roping to seconding, to leading smoothly and confidently, ready for new adventures.

Took an active rest day today and went for a hike up Moel Siabod. Amazing views of Eryi national Park, Yr Wyddfa and the east face of Tryfan. Strong winds at times but it was like a summers day otherwise.

3 class days in The Burren working alongside .torr and on RCI assessments.

It's always great to work alongside other Instructors, to learn from them, share ideas with them, and importantly, to have friends to climb with after work.

Well done to all the RCI candidates, putting themselves forward for assessment and doing so well. 🙌🙌

The start of 2023 was a bit hectic, but May and June have been a better balance of work and time off. Days on the hills and at the cliffs, downtime, catching up with friends, somedays climbing strong and somedays being a punter. So far a great summer.
