Corbel History:
Corbel Developments Ltd was established by Patrick and Cathal O’Connor to design, develop and build property using their combined, extensive project expertise. The fusion of their skill set and resources allows Corbel to offer a seamless project completion from inception to turn-key stage. Projects range from small one-room extensions, facilities management, maintenance contracts,
full refurbishment works to complete new-builds and fit-outs. Corbel are registered with Homebond and the SEI to facilitate all grant aided home improvements. Background and Experience:
Patrick O’Connor’s thirty plus years of project experience is business management and financial control based. He established his own construction business in the early eighties, manufacturing and selling timber framed homes nationally. He pioneered the timberframe industry in Munster and co-founded the ITFMA (Irish Timber Frame Manufacturer’s Association). Patrick also developed and built large scale housing schemes through a series of successful joint venture initiatives and direct purchase land deals. He also completed a large portfolio of general building contract work as an integral part of his construction group’s operations. Cathal O’Connor has over twelve years post graduate project experience from architectural practice to site operations. He joined the award winning practice Wilson Architecture after graduating from college, working closely with practice principle Billy Wilson and others. He joined the RIAI (Royal Institute of Architects of Ireland) in 2003 and subsequently served as defacto architect for KJ Barry & Associates, Consulting Engineers, working on a range of residential, commercial and mixed-use developments. Invaluable experience was gained in the areas of site feasibilities, planning procurement, design and detailed design implementation, negotiating contract and contractor appointments to site supervision and hand-over. Cathal received a Diploma in Applied Project Management in 2006 at University College Cork, and joined the IPMI. Cathal established b o c architects in 2006 with an associate. b o c architects are the designers of much of Corbel’s work completed and work in progress, except where external independent architects are involved through the competitive tender process orprocured for specialist project advice, delivery etc. Company Management roles:
Patrick O'Connor oversees the strategic planning of the development business norturing business relationships for joint venture partnerships, procuring banking and finance requirements, legals, insurances, auditing and accounting and general business strategy. Cathal leads the building design and general contracting side of the business including project delivery systems on site. Duties range from procuring contract work, interpreting individual client briefs, producing sketch designs for approval, providing the relevant costings, contract programmes, payment schedule/ project cash-flow plans, banking, coordinating construction on site including labour/ rate negotiation, sourcing and purchasing materials, safety statements, architectural detailing, quality control and general project management. Corbel’s flagship project is Ashley, Rochestown, an exclusive development of luxurious detached homes off the salubrious Rochestown Road in Cork, designed, developed and built by the firm.
