It is with huge sadness that we announce the death of our amazing colleague and dear friend, Grace Mc Dermot (Sharkey) after a long and courageous battle with illness.
As the driving force behind our tourism magazines, including Takeoff and Go West, and the Irish Angling Show, Grace became much more than a Sales Manager to each of the customers she worked with over the last 15 years – she became a friend, a person who took genuine interest in their lives and a person who showed deep care and kindness to everyone she met.
Despite the many ‘mountains’ she had to climb over the last six years through her battle with cancer, Grace’s passion and love for her work was astounding, taking great pride in the completion and success of each of the magazines and shows that she worked on.
But above all of this, she was an amazing friend to every single one of us here in Mara Media. We were so much more than colleagues, we were family and Grace was certainly the life and soul of our family. From the minute she stepped foot in the office in the morning, she brought the place to life and we have so many fantastic memories to cherish of our adventures over the last 15 years together.
We send our sincere condolences to Grace’s family at this time – to her son Luke, daughters Bridget and Sarah, her mother Margaret, sisters Bridget, Eileen and Margaret and her brothers James and Patrick, as well as all of her extended family and friends.
Grace’s remains will repose at Mc Glynn’s Funeral Home, Dungloe today Saturday from 4pm until 8pm with rosary at 8pm. Remains reposing at her home on Sunday from 11am. Her funeral mass will take place on Monday at 11am in St Mary’s Church Kincasslagh with interment in Belcruit Cemetery.
The Mara Media office will remain closed on Monday and Tuesday and will reopen on Wednesday 5th July.
