I'm Julie, originally from the U.K but found my way over here to Ireland back in 2002 and have been a 'blow in' ever since. Based here in Cork where I'm fortunate enough to have a range of mountains within a relatively short drive. I started Julie Reeves Walking back in 2011 as I've always enjoyed the outdoors and believe that everyone is also entitled to enjoy them no matter what level of fitness

or budget. It is my aim to try to achieve this through guiding, training, education and mostly personal experiences.

Our last day here in Tanzania 🥹... and what a packed three weeks it's been!!

Project phase in Kindwitwe near Utete by the river Rifugi in the South..

Trekking phase through the Uluguru mountains in the Eastern Arc south of Morogoro followed by safari in Mikumi National Park...

Rest and recuperate phase in Zanzibar and spending tonight on Kipepeo beach with the team before flying home tomorrow...

I'm completely exhausted but what a trip!! 😍 ,🇹🇿

Trekking with the team through Uluguru in the Eastern Arc mountains of Tanzania and they all did extremely well....

5 days of Trekking in a very remote area through the jungle and this area is absolutely stunning and now that the project and Trekking phase are completed we've arrived in Mikumi National park to go on safari before finishing in Zanzibar 👌

One week into our expedition and the team have now completed their project phase, working with better life's and KCM group in Siasa primary school and Utete secondary school 👌....

They've been planting banana trees, making a compost banda, digging trenches for water pipes, painting a mural for the new nursery and teaching 4th and 7th class

Amazing work going on.... we're currently back in Dar Es Salaam and off to the Uluguru mountains tomorrow for our trekking phase 👍

Great work from the team and I'm still loving my job 😍

What an end to a fantastic week on the Scottish Winter meet. It feels good to now be finally working as a Winter ML.

After delivering winter walking skills at the start of the week, it was very generous of to let me observe his walking skills course so I can see where improvements can be made and some decisions affirmed.

Great weather on the Ben with snow buntings for company....

Great to observe both and darach delivering a Mountain Leadership 2 course the weekend down Kerry.. revising ropeskills Friday in the Gap followed by an overnight camp last night.

Well done to all the guys... we had wind, rain, ticks and talks on nutrition, lightning and mythology 👍

It's great to be back at it and observing an ML1 this weekend up in Wicklow. I'm always learning something new, and it's always good to revise ML ropework and get stuck into the night nav.....

With the terrible weather this weekend, I'm deciding to make the most of it and check over the winter gear...

I had one pair of crampons in dire need of repair after a stomper belay damaged the clip on the balling plate and, while fixing, noticed how bent the bar was!....

All fixed 👌 and now back to 2 pairs.

The moment of truth.... You should be able to keep your boot in your crampon when lifted without being strapped or tied in... that is when you know you have a good fit (see last photos) 👍

Thank you so much for another amazing year....

2023 has been another extremely busy year for me, I've worked on Skills workshops, Happy hiking and Club leadership program days for

Delivered Mountain Skills and Lowland Leader courses and assessments throughout the year.

Led numerous people around the hills of Ireland and even had a school trekking in Vietnam 😍...

I'm extremely lucky I work alongside some of the most amazing people.

Already looks like next year is going to be another busy one, so I'm signing off for a well deserved break!!

Merry Christmas and I look forward to seeing you on the hills in 2024 😘 xx

Fantastic change in location delivering a Lowland Leader course up in Sligo for the guys from Wilderness Ireland....

As expected from these guys who either work already as guides or are in operations organising hiking tours the standard all weekend was exceptionally high 🙌

Great catching up with the guys.... an amazing weekend with plenty of learning despite both storm Elin and storm Fergus!!!

Absolutely fantastic day working on another club leadership program day for with my second group from Dunmanway and Clonakilty hillwalking clubs.

Weather held, and we selected a great route... looked at navigation techniques, compass work, grid references, weather forecasts and got lots of things covered in general

The guys were such great company, which makes my job amazing 🙌

Finally, I managed to put together some of the photographs from our trek in Tanzania 🇹🇿 Absolutely fantastic place for camping and trekking, paths were mostly narrow, steep and could also be extremely rough in parts.. it is the jungle after all 🤦‍♀️🤣 My team did brilliantly 🙌 Our in-house guides @josephalfredysikalengo and @bushadventurestz were absolutely amazing, highly knowledgeable, professional, but mostly engaging and fun.... I couldn't praise them or recommend them highly enough. Love it..... Can't wait now for next time 😍 @trueadventureuk #tanzania #Uluguru #morogorotanzania
