Can you help Charlotte find Mr.Lynch?🤔
Say Hello to Charlotte from Canada searching for details on a Mr.Lynch, a Cork waterworks superintendent circa 1803. During this time waterwheels were used to lift water from the River Lee to the "city basin" or original reservoir with wooden pipes flowing to the old city.
We do know his son Lawrence was a "sword" bearer for Cork Corporation in 1863. He mentions helping his father at the waterworks from newspaper extracts covering a hearing disputing the impact of the construction of Sir John Benson's scheme. The case was heard at the Sheriffs Count in September 1863 and centres around a local mill owner seeking redress for the reduced flow rate of the river reaching his business.
