The Mihrab of Maryam, or the Mihrab of Zakaria, is one of the landmarks of the city of Jerusalem and the Al-Aqsa Mosque. The Mihrab of Zakaria is located inside a room to the east of the Al-Qibli Mosque, and is entered through the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque. The western wall of the room is a door to it.

Abu al-Yaman Mujir al-Din al-Hanbali described it, saying: Next to the complex known as the Mosque of Omar, on the north side, is a large, arched iwan called Maqam Uzair, and it has a door through which one leads to the Mosque of Omar, and next to this iwan, on the north side, is a nice iwan with a mihrab called the Mihrab of Zakariya, peace be upon him, and it is Next to the eastern door, and towards this mihrab, there is the thirteenth column built at the eastern door of the Al-Aqsa Mosque, which is considered one of the columns that support the roof and dome of the mosque.

The shrine of Zechariah was mentioned in the Holy Qur’an in the Almighty’s saying in Surah Al Imran: “Whenever Zechariah entered upon her into the shrine, he found with her provision. He said, ‘O Mary, how has this come to you?’ She said, ‘It is from Allah. “Indeed, Allah provides for whomsoever He wills without reckoning,” and it is the mihrab in which she took charge. Mary, peace be upon her, serving Jerusalem.

This sanctuary witnessed the miracle of the birth of Yahya, peace be upon him. Zachariah’s wife gave birth to him a son after he was very old and she was barren. There, tears of Zachariah, peace be upon him, flowed, calling on Allah Almighty to bless him with a boy from whom he would inherit the inheritance of prophecy. He said: “He will inherit from me and inherit from the family of Jacob.” ".

The miracle was fulfilled as Allah Almighty told us, and the angels gave him good news of the birth of Yahya: “Then the angels called to him while he was standing and praying in the sanctuary, ‘Allah gives you good news of Yahya, confirming a word from Allah . And a master, a ruler, and a prophet from among the righteous.” But despite that, there is no definitive evidence in the Holy Qur’an that the niche of Zechariah Or the niche of Mary is mentioned in the Holy Quran

The Mosque of the Prophet Musa [2] is a Palestinian mosque and site in the Jericho Governorate of Palestine, in the West Bank, believed to contain the tomb of the Prophet Musa. Prophet Musa is also the name of a seven-day religious festival celebrated annually by Palestinian Muslims, beginning on the Friday before Good Friday in the Orthodox calendar used by the Greek Orthodox Church of Jerusalem.[3] Considered in the political context of 1920 as "the most important Islamic pilgrimage in Palestine",[4] the festival centered on a mass pilgrimage from Jerusalem to what is believed to be the Tomb of Moses, a great multi-domed building representing the shrine of Moses near Jericho.[5]

The Palestinian town of Nabi Musa is known as an administrative area with an area of 113 square kilometers south of the city of Jericho. The number of Palestinian families in it reached 66 families in 2007, and they were defined in 2012 as “Bedouins.”
Popular Palestinian tradition says that the festival opened in the time following Saladin's recapture of Jerusalem from the Crusaders in 1187.[16] The prevailing view among historians is that the shrine was built by Baybars some eight decades later, and that the Saladin legend is a 19th-century reaction to Western encroachment. But this does not prevent some scholars from finding merit in Saladin’s account.[16] In the modern era, the holiday was popularly associated with Saladin as a symbol of the victorious struggle against the West, embodied by the Crusaders.[16] Saladin, after defeating the Europeans, allegedly wanted to ensure that future Crusades would not exploit the large annual Easter pilgrimage to Jerusalem in order to wrest the Holy City from the Muslims once again.[17] To this end, participants in the Season of the Prophet Moses will ensure the protection of the city.[17] But this was not documented.
In 1269, the Mamluk Sultan Baibars al-Bunduqdari built a small shrine there, as part of a general policy he adopted after occupying the cities and rural areas from Lebanon to Hebron from the Crusaders. The shrines were mostly dedicated to the biblical prophets and companions of Muhammad, and their maintenance was financed through a waqf, a gift of property that had previously belonged to the Latin Church. In the case of Prophet Musa, the endowment fund was secured from church assets confiscated in nearby Jericho.[19]

The inscription of Baibars' construction can still be seen. It refers to the year the shrine was built, 668 AH (1269-70 AD), and the fact that he "ordered the construction of this holy and honorable place over the tomb of Moses" while he was on his way from Mecca, where he performed his Hajj towards Jerusalem.[ 20] Although the Sultan's secretary did not mention the building, one of his biographers, Izz ad-Din Ibn Shaddad, did, albeit with few details.[20] The inscription is full of praise for Baybars' military prowess, and unlike other similar panels of his time, it is written in a clear, easy handwriting and placed low enough for visitors to read, allowing everyone to know Baibars' strength and piety.[20]

Baybars al-Bunduqdari's constructive piety set a precedent for others. In the late Middle Ages, an inn for travelers was established next to the shrine, and the terminal hospital in its present form was completed in the decade between 1470 and 1480.
