היסטוריון מקומי וארכיאולוג יבשתי ותת-ימי,
מנהל המרכז לארכיאולוגיה תת-ימית דור, עמית מחקר באוניברסיטת חיפה.
נולד וגדל בעיר דן-הלדר שבהולנד, עיר נמל ובסיס חיל הים, שם סיים לימודיו
כבוגר ביה"ס לקציני ים.
הגיע לארץ בשנת 1973כמתנדב בקבוץ נחשולים, לאחר שירות בצבא ההולנדי
במדינות החסות בדרום אמריקה כלוחם וטייס.
מאז הגיעו לארץ הקדיש את חייו לארכיאולוגיה תת-ימית, בעיקר חקר עיר הנמל המק
ראית דור.
במשך שלושים שנה שהינו מנהל ומשתתף פעיל בכל החפירות היבשתיות והתת ימיות שנעשו בתל דור ובמפרצי חוף דור-טנטורה.
הקים וניהל את מוזיאון המזגגה בקבוץ נחשולים, בו מוצגים כיום ממצאי החפירות, ומיסד עמותת CONRAD.
לזכותו רשומים כ32 אתרים ארכיאולוגים בכל הארץ, בניהם "הסירה בכנרת", "נשקיו של נפוליון", "אוצר הכרמל" ועוד, וכן גילוי כ-40 אתרי ספינות טרופות על מטעניהן, 21 מתוכם בחוף דור.
בין השנים 1976-90, הקים וניהל בשיתוף את היחידה לפיקוח ימי מטעם רשות העתיקות, בים התיכון, ים סוף והכנרת.
הוציא לאור ספר מטעם אוניברסיטת אוקספורד אנגליה, כתב ופרסם יותר מ50 מאמרים מקצועיים ומדעיים בארץ ובעולם, לאנציקלופדיות, ספרים וקטלוגים. כמו כן הפיק, ביים והשתתף ביותר מ22 סרטים, בכללם לערוצי נשיונל ג'אוגרפיק ודיסקברי.
מזה כשלושים שנה שהינו מורה ומרצה בינלאומי, בשלוש שפות- עברית, אנגלית והולנדית. Dr. Kurt Raveh
Since his arrival from Holland in 1973, Kurt fully dedicated his life to Maritime archaeology and the study and exploration of the ancient Port city and Harbor of Dor /Tantura. During this period he participated as director /co-director or staff member in all of Dor's regional land survey's & excavations, including 20 seasons of the international "Tell Dor" project under Prof. Stern - Hebrew University and Sea exploration projects of the I DA & RIMS. Personally he is government granted licenses co-holder, of 32 projects, including the major "Ancient Sea of Galilee Boat Project", the search for "Napoleons lost Armor" and the "Carmel Sea Treasure" projects. He has further to his name the discovery of at least 40 major and ancient shipwreck-sites, from these 21 in the Dor region alone. Between 1976 and 1990 he co-founded and served with Shelly Wachsmann, as the "Maritime Inspection Team" responsible for the research and protection of Israel's Maritime Heritage & Archaeology, for the "Israel Department of Antiquities", exploring extensively the Mediterranean, Red Sea and Sea of Galilee coast. In addition to his full life as archaeologist, he is a graduate in "Museology" at Haifa University as well and has to his credit to be the founder and first director of the " Dor Archaeological Museum" and Center for Maritime& Regional Archaeology (CONRAD). So far he has Co- published a book ( Oxford series) attributed to other books and major catalogues and encyclopedia and (co)-authored more than 50 major articles in local and international scientific publications. He has 30 years of world-wide lecturing / teaching experience in 3 languages and produced or co-directed so far 22 films and TV documentaries including some with National Geographic and Discovery. As founder (since 1998) and Scientific director of "Aquadora" (Dor Center for Diving & Maritime Archaeology) on the Mediterranean coast and as co-owner in the "Reef Diving Group" including also the (Dolphin Reef & Marine Divers and de-compression facilities) in Eilat (Red Sea) he continues to contribute and directs all his time, resources, facilities, equipment and manpower to the exploration, research, discovery, teaching and protection of the Holy lands Maritime History, Culture & Environment. He was rewarded for his dedication and contribution the Oscar of the diving world in 1998 and the French Orde du Bonaparte in 1995 and a Phd./Hon.1994.
