We are just two guys, both Licensed Tour Guides and Outdoor Specialists, who are here to make you experience Israel like an Israeli. Wherever we are, the Finjan is always by our side – ready to brew the finest grounds. Ah but wait, we still didn’t say what a Finjan is. The Finjan is the vassal we use to prepare our coffee. All across the Middle East, you will see this variation on a theme. So as we say, without the Finjan, there is no coffee, and without the coffee – there is no trek! There’s an old Bedouin proverb that goes like this: Coffee must be as dark as the night, sweet as a woman, strong like a man…and bitter like marriage. Now its our time to take you to the places your guidebook won’t!

It is so hard to imagine a full year has passed since our last new year sunrise hike..

This year we are trying something a bit different: our annual new year trip will be an overnight.
We will leave our pick up points in Rehovot and Tel Aviv on Thursday evening (26th) camping in an amazing location above the valley of Bet Shean and the Jordan valley.
We will watch the sun rise above the mountains of Gilead and wish for a new better year 🙏🏼
After loading the bus with our gear we will head down to the classic trails of the valley of springs, hiking, swimming and just relaxing in some of the most beautiful springs Israel has to offer, returning on Friday noon (27th)

The hike is easy and relaxed this time, and suitable for anyone in decent shape.

There's no use, and no need to sugarcoat it, this has definitely been the darkest, most difficult and devastating year we've ever experienced, trying to live through a reality that could only be imagined by the worst humanity has to offer.

In midst of these hard times, we tried our best to continue, believing that what is true in normal times, can be even more important when times are hard.
We believe that being in nature, feeling the desert wind, resting in the shade of the forest, can help us heal our scars, hiking with friends, and meeting with the good people who lives in this land, can help us not feeling alone and powerless.
We are extremely thankful for everyone hiking with us this year, each and every one of you made a difference, and helped us to keep our head above the raging water. We can only hope these moments were as meaningful for you, as they were for us.
Our plan for this coming year is to continue.
As long as we can, as long as you will come exploring with us.

On the end of the month (Sep 26th) we plan to go our traditional sunrise hike, trying to imagine a new better year.
On the end of Sukkot we will go on our traditional multi days trek in the Negev, hopefully, picking off the trail, in the exact point where we left it last year, on our hike on October the 7th (TBD)
We are looking forward meeting you this season.

Antares is one of the the brightest stars in the summer sky of the northern hemisphere, it is located in the scorpius constellation, also known as the "heart of the scorpion"
It is a red super giant star, about 700 times larger than our sun, and it is visibly red, even to the naked eye.

Why we don't go stargazing on the Perseid meteor shower?
Over the past decade the meteor shower had been a overhyped event, attracting thousands of people to the desert. With this massive crowd there are problems of light pollution, noise, traffic and cleanliness issues.
We prefer to go to the desert at more serene times, when the moonlight is minimal, the campgrounds are empty and quiet.
You can join us next weekend on our annual stargazing trip, and enjoy the night sky and the desert at their best!

Summer is here, and the desert sky is just right for our annual stargazing trip.
On this trip we will camp out in the Ramon crater, watch the night sky using professional gear, and specialist astronomy guide, and wake up early to watch the sunrise from the rim of the crater.

Nothing like a tour of our galaxy to keep things in proportion in these crazy times!

Our next adventure will take us to the high Negev, for a night in Salem's Bedouin camp, and a morning hike to the ancient Petroglyphs (rock paintings) of mt. Arkov, the impressive Ramalia cisterns.
We will learn about the small communities of the Bedouins in the high Negev, the mysterious 4000 years old rock paintings, and the new theories connecting them to the secrets of copper production.
Thursday June 27th evening- Friday 28th noon.

On a very hot day (43C at noon) we hiked through the Arugot canyon, the many pools and waterfalls kept us cool, and and with an amazing group of hikers, we had an unforgettable day!

This canyon was closed for hikers for almost a year, but is finally opened recently.
The Arugot canyon is one of the best summer hikes in Israel, filled with refreshing pools and waterfalls, on Saturday June 8th, we will be hiking and swimming all its length from the upper pools down to the hidden waterfall, on a hike you wilk not want to miss!

We always like to start the hiking season big!
Our next hike during Sukkot holiday (5-7th of October) is a 3 day trek around Ramon crater, in the vast wilderness of the Negev highland.
We will have logistics team with us bringing us our camping gear and water at the end of each day, so hiking will be with a lighter day pack.
Each day we will hike 15-20km surrounded by magnificent desert landscapes.

New Year Sunrise and a Rare Visit to the World's Lowest Oasis

Hi everyone,
We are making major changes to our plan for Friday because of the weather forecast (as usual 🙄🙄 the weather is causing problems)
We will watch the sunrise from the amazing dead sea balcony, hike a shorter hike in the area with great views of the dead sea, Jericho and the hanging monastery of st. George.
Later we will have a unique hike in the closed off part of Ein Zukim nature reserve, unaccessible to independent hikers, and explore the world's lowest oasis.
We will end the day with a refreshing swim in the pools of the oasis.
