זכות | privileged

Privileged to be leading trip at these times, with these people at this beautiful country. Sharing time and energy with curious souls who came to explore the colture, scenery, stories of Israel, but moreover *their own* Jewish identity & connection to Israel.

Thank you for trusting me, for sharing your thoughts, for giving it your all, for creating the best atmosphere and standing in a circle dozen times a day 😊

This is not the end. It is not even the beginning of the end. But it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning.

see you later 🤍

I think it's time I'd share with you a project close to my heart called Zikaron BaSalon. I've been volunteering there for the last 3 years, and I'm deeply privileged to be part of such movement.

Zikaron BaSalon is the opportunity to host a memory of a holocaust survivor at your own living room.

We are at a critical point in time, when antisemitism is rising again with frightening images from campuses around the US. I would like to ask you to host a survivor who will share their testimonies with you, teach about the past and give us hope for the future.

All you need to do is to gather with a few friends, sign up at our website to host a gathering and we'll contact you.

Suits are not usually my thing. Unless I get to be a part of a delegation to the States. Then I’ll wear a suit.

A few months ago, an opportunity arose for me to join a delegation to the US, led by the Tavor organization. The delegation's main purpose was to learn more about Jewish communities in the States, familiarize ourselves with the challenges they’re facing, and gain a deeper understanding of the Differing views Americans have on Israel. Now, with everything going on in Israel, I’m not really looking for vacations abroad (unless it's to do with Taylor Swift.) But when an opportunity like this introduces itself, you don’t just let it go by.

So I packed a suitcase, put on a suit and hopped on a flight.

And let me tell you, that was quite the timing. At Harvard University, we were welcomed by Apartheid week. Our visit to NYC coincided exactly with the 6-month mark since the war started. And in DC, the very first person we saw held a Free Palestine sign. This is a time when anything and everything is a political statement, when some people treat "Zionist" as an insult while others view it as a compliment, and Jewish students at Columbia University don’t feel safe mentioning they are meeting with “IDF veterans" – that is, pretty much any Jewish Israeli citizens.

But all that complexity? That just made it more meaningful. The need to fight antisemitism, internal US politics that nonetheless affect the state of Israel, diaspora-Jewish identity that becomes both blurrier and sharper at the same time, the generational differences, and the echoing question - where is this all going?

I can’t say I came back with all the answers. Rather, I returned with a lot of photos – and a lot of thoughts. What’s my part in all of this? Are Israel's efforts at communication efficient? How can I empower the young people I’m meeting to be proud of who they are? Where should we do more?

And beyond all these questions, a realization: how much the state of Israel truly means to Jews all over the world.

Oh and now I have lots of suits, any idea what should I do with them?

Spending time with people who think it's reasonable to fly across the world just to pick lemons and helping Israeli farmers.

Still in complete awe.

A rare Jerusalem tour at these times ❤️‍🩹

Two very different yet extremely Jerusalem vibes - the old city's Jewish quarter, and the Shuk (Mahne Yehuda market). One is traditionalist, the other keeps inventing itself. One is beautifully built while the other is full of colors and flavors.

And as always the best part of my job - the people. I had such a blast with you guys ❤️

January 2024

You'll never know how many baby peppers you can eat in a day until you'll go peppers picking in a greenhouse in Israel.

Israel's known for its fresh vegetables, juicy fruits and great products. During this past few months we were reminded that even the start-up nation, understand the importance of local agriculture for its success and prosperity.

No matter how far we walk, how much we progress, we cannot forget where our food comes from. We cannot forget the people who grows our food, and the heart, sweat and effort being put in to this.

I would never take for granted all of the people I get to meet that care about Israel prosperity as much as I do. The people who understands that Israel is both innovative and would never forget its connection to the land.

Agriculture=Life 🌶️🫑

January 2024

When I say people from all over the world, I mean it 🌍 Jews from all around the globe left their home countries, to show up for their homeland. Even if it means to trellis and clip up cucumbers for hours. Because that's where they were needed.

January 2024

Volunteer groups keep coming to israel, even 3 months after the war started, because they know they're still needed. They allow hope to the farmers of Israel, and food security for the people of our country.

It warms my heart knowing that the support just keeps growing.

It's my greatest pleasure sharing my time with them. This January we got to pick oranges at orchards in southern Israel 🍊

When you hear about Israel on the news, 90% of the time you hear about 10% of what is actually happening here.

Often times when people think about Israel their association is: conflict. Perhaps even more after the October 7th Massacre.

But Israel is not its conflicts.
The terror attacks & the wars are only interruptions to the *real story of Israel*.

A story about a nation of innovation, of a people who returned to its land, with deep connection to their country. People with solidarity, who care about each other, and about the world. Israel is the only place in the world that during war time people decide to immigrate (make Aliya), or return.

The conflicts that exist in Israel do not define Israel. Israel is rather defined by how deeply people care about it.
Evidence is how people across countries fly during a time of war to help farmers in need and pick lemons on a small Moshav in the south, for example.

So next time you hear about Israel in the news, keep in mind that you're probably hearing about the people trying to interrupt our story, and not the whole story. We're not gonna let the interruptions become the story of Israel.

December 2023

On the back of the shirts that I gave my volunteer groups were two words שומר אחי - Shomer Ahi - my brother's keeper.

Being my brother's keeper means I have mutual responsibility over my people, and I choose to show up when I'm needed. And that's exactly what those groups teach me every single time - SOLIDARITY. Flying to Israel, from all over the world, just to be there for their nation, their country - wherever and however they're needed.

I have nothing but appreciation towards people who are willing to put in a real effort to support their brothers and sisters 🍋

December 2023

When you think about October 7th it's easy to mistakenly think that the only ones who suffered from the terror attack were people living in the Gaza Envelope. But the truth is that everyone knows someone, and there's not one person in Israel or dare I say, there isn't one Jew in the whole world who hasn't been affected by this event.

Same for farmers.

Farmers from all over the country who were used to employ workers from Thailand, the west bank and even the Gaza strip - we're not able to do so anymore. And so avocado plantations or beet fields in central Israel were in desperate need of help.

This time I got to meet a volunteer group, with people from all over the world (Brazil, USA, Canada, Ukraine, Mexico and more) who dropped everything they were doing to come over here and help.

Forever inspired by this spirit I'm lucky to meet os often by those volunteers.

Inspired by every single person I meet, hearing your stories, why you came here, how's the atmosphere in your country, your first time hearing about October 7th and more generally your relationship with Israel.

Nov 2023

Farmers in Israel faced a real problem after October 7th - they were left with a fraction of the working hands they were used to. That's when stepped in to land a hand. Volunteers from all over the country came to farms, and attempted to replace the missing workers.

But not only volunteers from Israel. The groups I met were groups, of Jews all across the globe making their way to Israel to do whatever needed. Yeah, even if it's just picking baby peppers. Volunteers from France, USA, Canada, Britain, Ukraine, Australia, New Zealand, Brazil and many more.

I feel so honored to have spent time and energy with these groups, and of you'll ask them you'll probably learn that I haven't failed to mention it (sometime multiple times a day) 😂

On October 7th Israel experienced one of the most vicious, deadly, horrific attacks by the terror organization Hamas. 1400 were slaughtered, r***d, and over 240 were kidnapped to the Gaza strip.

Since then we've fought back. Against Hamas in Gaza strip, against Hizballa on the northern border, against antisemitism and fake news all over the world.

Hoping and wishing for better days, for my country, my people, and the world. #ביחדננצח

Most people who come to Israel, visit the touristic hotspots etc.

As you should.

Those are the hotspots for a reason. They carry a unique piece of Israel's history. 🧩

BUT if you chose to, you can hike in the less traveled areas of Israel. Enjoy the mediterranean forest, the most local flavors, the hidden, untold storys.

Wake up in the middle of the night, ride for almost two hours, climb up the Masada mountain... and you'll end up watching one of the better sunrises of your life and hear the fascinating story of Masada - the king and the rebels.

If you're asking me, it's totally worth it.

Masada sunrise is something you must experience at least once.

Visiting the Mahne Yehuda market can be quite overwhelming, even if it's not your first time. The flavors, sounds, colors... you want a bite of everything and everything screams for your attention.

Choosing a food tour in that case can allow you to visit the highlights, taste the core flavors, and hear the stories that turned the Shuk into what it is today.

Touring Jerusalem is always interesting. Getting to do it with such an amazing group like the one I had yesterday is just pure pleasure.

One of my favorite things as a tour guide is getting asked questions. Meeting curious people who wants to explore, their critical thinking and their thirst for knowledge.

There's a lot of ways to get to know a place.

You can watch a tv show about it, or read some books. You may choose to contact people from said place, and hear from them. You can Google it, read all Wikipedia has to offer about it...

Or you can visit. Travel. Explore. Experience.

You'll see different colors, you'll encounter different thoughts, you'll taste new flavors, meet unique people and take in the views. Use all of your senses for the journey.

I prefer the second option. Wherever I travel I bring my curiosity, playfulness, love towards nature and people with me.

Care to join me?

If you'd ask someone 150 years ago, about the market of Jerusalem - everyone would assume you're referring to the one at the old city. Today, there's not one who wouldn't talk about Mahne Yehuda Market, or as we call it "the Shuk".

The Shuk is one of the most colorful, chaotic, fresh, tasty and interesting places in Jerusalem. And what better way to explore it if not though food tour?

I invite you to join me and Bhuka Tours - בוקא סיורים on a delicious food tour around the Mahne Yehuda Market!
