There is life in the desert - you just need to know where to find it - I mean.. the water! Hidden rock pools in beautiful canyons in Judaean Desert, where rebels led by Bar Kochba found a shelter in 135 AD.

Yehuda Plains are one of the beautiful regions of Israel, with lots of history and biblical stories that happened on it hills and in its valleys.

I had the opportunity to take the international students of Tel Aviv University to a very calm Friday. We saw the largest stalactite cave in Israel, and visited the Ella Valley, the place of the famous battle between David and Goliath.

Now there are many vineyards in the very same valley so we finished this beautiful day with lots of wine!

It was Rani's first visit in Jerusalem and Shiran thought it will just make sense to book for him a guided tour in the old city.

I had the pleasure to take Shiran and Rani to a beautiful and relaxing walk in the Old City of Jerusalem. Thank you both for the smiles!

There is nothing like Jaffa at nights!

Exactly at the right time for a lovely evening tour in the Old City of Jaffa I showed the people I guided the cultural richness of this place - starting from evidence of Egyptian settlement from the 14th century BC at the top of Jaffa's hill until the current viewpoint to the coastline of Tel Aviv which has been developed only in the last 100 years.

There is nothing like Jaffa at nights. Thousands of yeas of history and big cultural celebration in one place!

Graffiti Tour in Florentine Neighbourhood with TAU international students!

Florentine was always a place of creation and creative people. It started from Solomon Florentine who built this place so adequately since 1927, continued with craftsmen who moved in the neighbourhood since the 60s, and today with Florentine's vibrant graffiti culture that dominates the public realm.

On Friday I had the pleasure to take a group of 16 true adventurous people for a hike in the Auja Valley! 💦🌴

To avoid the heavy heat we started the day at 6:00am and had a beautiful morning walk. By the time we reached the cool fresh water of the most powerful spring in the Jordan Valley - Auja Spring, it was the perfect time to stop and rest by (and inside) the water!!

Then, we saw some of the ruins of the ancient aqueduct that supplied water from the spring to the City of Archelais, and we finished the day sliding the aqueduct's "slides" 🐬

Amazing day! Amazing Fresh Water! Amazing people of Hashamba!

📷thanks for the participants who took some of the photos

Ein Hod is a beautiful artist village on Mount Carmel situated in green Mediterranean forst and has spectacular view to the sea.

In the 50s it was saved from demolition thanks to a group of visionary artists who recognised its potential to be used as their home for inspiration and recreation.

In our visit to the village, TAU international students got to have a taste of the life in the village, appreciate the art work around, and had an insight into the artists' workshops.

Days like the day I had with Andrey and Shira make me feel I love my job!

I had such a great honour to take this amazing couple to the depth of the Old City as well as the depth of the Mountains of Jerusalem.

From an interactive history lesson within the old city alleyways to a fun relaxing way to end the day with a dip in cold fresh water, glorious views and caressing sun.

The best of both worlds - nature and city. Jerusalem has it all!

In the early 19th century, Napoleon Bonaparte walked in a small European country town and heard people crying from one of the buildings.

He entered inside and saw people sitting on the floor and mourning. He asked them: "why do you cry?", and the people answered: "because on this day the Jewish Temple was destroyed".

Napoleon was very surprised from the answer he got and then asked: "and when was the temple destroyed?". The people looked at him and said: "almost 2000 years ago".

Napoleon was shocked and did not understand how they can be so sad regarding something that happened so long ago. Then he told the people: "a nation that remembers its country and does not stop shedding tears over its destruction - such a nation has the right to hope and be sure, that its country will be built again"

Today is Tisha B'Av (Ninth of Av), the Jewish day of mourning, 1953 years since the destruction of the Temple and Jerusalem, and still, until this day, people are sitting on synagogue's floors and cry.

The Mamluk Architecture is characterised by magnificent stone made facades with arches, stalactite decorations (Mokrans) and geometric shapes.

One of the biggest signatures of Mamluk's decorative style is the Hablak, the use of interlocking stones of red, black and white colours.

The black symbolises the inherent sin that people are born with, the white symbolises people's ambition and goal to rise in their spiritual level, and the red colour symbolises the life on earth and people's attempts to atone for their sins.

These impressive architectural features decorate entrances of public buildings, mainly of a religious character, built in Jerusalem by the Mamluks between the late 13th and the 14th centuries.

60 meters below the ground surface you start to feel like groundwater, dissolving limestone and dolomite carbonate rocks.

You crawl through narrow rocky passages until your persistence leads you to a dark bottomed karst shaft.

You stand in silence. You are alive. Patiently waiting for the time you reach the surface again.

Tel Aviv Port, I've never thought you can be so exciting to travel in. Beautiful Sunset, Yarkon River, Philistine Citadel, British Lighthouse and one big Power Plant that tell the history of this country from the front coast line.

What can you do in two days in Israel?
The answer is: it's up to you.

But if you ask Fredrica, Malcolm and Keli’i from Salt Lake City they will tell you "a lot"!

My adventure with these power three started in relaxation time in the Dead Sea but soon after we had seen so many places and dived into the story of Jesus in the Land of Israel.

From a tour in Jerusalem to a night hang out in Tel Aviv, from a visit in Natzreth to a lookout to Sea of Galilee and a dip in the Jordan River, we made these two days rich and diverse and full with spiritual moments.

Thank you Fredrica, Malcolm and Keli’i for choosing me to be your guide. It was an honour to show you around and create for you this ever lasting memory from your stay in Israel.

The Old City of Jerusalem always surprises me how much depth it has.
A new tour I run to the Christian holy sites of the city revealed for me and the people I guided the diversity of the Christian streams within the walls of Jerusalem, their beliefs and different rituals.
I was also excited to see how this tour touched the people I guided and how inspiring it was for them to see in their eyes the places they always heard about.

I spent last weekend with the international students of Tel Aviv University. We stayed in Arad, experienced Bedouin hospitality, explored the oasis of Ein Gedi Nature Reserve and floated on the salty water of the Dead Sea.

The main attraction of that weekend was a challenging hike that we did in search for the secret cave of King David. When we finally found it we imagined how it was for him to hide in that cave from King Saul who asked for his death because of his jealousy.

Thanks for your great efforts Tel Aviv University international students! You made me proud and made my weekend!

Late at night. The phone is ringing. 5 people from Greece want to explore the old city tomorrow! "Okay I'm ready", I said, "meet me at 12:30pm at Jaffa Gate".

I had a feeling this day will be lots of fun but I couldn't believe how much! I laughed a lot throughout the day, even in the most 'serious places', thanks to these amazing 5 and their amazing Greek spirit!

When it's hot outside the best thing to do is to keep cool in the water and that's exactly what I did with the international students of Tel Aviv University!

We went on a wet walk in the cool water of the Senir Stream, which is a major source of the Jordan River, saw the unique damselfly of this region and finished up with rafting!

Hot days can be lots of Fun!

I like the story behind the Church of Visitation because it entails a beautiful message of what true friendship is about.

Mother Mary rushed her way from Natzreth to the outskirts of Jerusalem when she was pregnant with Jesus. She wanted to see her cousin Elizabeth who was also pregnant with John (the baptist).

At the time of this meeting, the connection between the two was so deep and meaningful that John leaped in the womb. The support and understanding they provided to each other filled them with strength and led to a genuine and spontaneous piece of prayer that put gratitude in the centre - The Magnificat.

The Visitation Church describes Mary's visit which is commonly celebrated every year on May 31st.

I always take pride in showing this amazing country to people for the first time and this time I had fun taking Kelvin for a tour to the Old City of Jerusalem during the days leading to Shavuot Holiday.

We tracked the steps of the people of Israel when the Jewish Temple was existed; times that drawn thousands of visitors to Jerusalem to witness the spirit of God.

We visited the Western Wall of the temple and explored Temple Mount. And we visited the tomb of King David who made Jerusalem as the capital of his united kingdom and he is also associated with Shavuot Holiday.

Last week I had the pleasure to join Dikla Danino who owns the blog to the Dessert Festival at Sarona Food Market in Tel Aviv.

The mission was to taste as many desserts as possible without fainting out from sugar rush and the mission was hard!

We had tasted the best desserts of the best konditors and chocolatiers of Israel while we are walking between the 19th century buildings of what used to be Sarona German Colony in the outer areas of Jaffa.

Thank you for a sugary day!

What would you do if your nephew needed your help?

Abraham did exactly what was expected from him to do 3800 years ago and fought the 4 kings of Mesopotamia to release Lot and hundreds who were in their captivity.

Abraham repelled them away all the way to this point of this ancient Canaanite City of Laish (that was later known as Dan) and inherited the land of Israel.

This 3800 years old arched mudbrick gate is the remains of the the Canaanite City that was existed during Abraham journey to restore the peace to the land. And it is probably the oldest gate of its kind in the world that survived intact all these years.

🌬"Cold winter nights should be spent indoors". Well, not for me..

I had the pleasure to spend a very cold night outdoors in the middle of beautiful Odem Forest going in and out of this suiting sauna! If it gets too hot you can dip in the freezing tub and go for another round in the sauna.

Had a great experience at . This place is perfect for relaxation on cold nights.

I love giving people the opportunity to do things that they don't believe they're able of doing! And yesterday, I went for a challenging (but rewarding) hike to the highest mountain in Israel with a fantastic group of people.
8hrs of climbing in the snow we supported each other all the way to the top - 2000m above sea level!

Although the Dome of the Rock behind me must have drawn your attention I want to put the focus on the stone-made structure beside me.

When the Crusaders established their kingdom in Jerusalem, they also started converting buildings into churches. The Dome of the Rock, a Muslim building, was used as a church named Templum Domini, and the stone element near me was the church's baptismal basin.

Today, it is an exciting evidence of the life in Jerusalem 900 years ago.

Today it's Tu biShvat - the Jewish new year for the trees 🌳 and it is a tradition in Israel to plant trees on this day.

There isn't a better day to tell the story of a very special tree that was planted by Lot in order to atone for his sin more than 3700 years ago.

Abraham who guided Lot gave him seedlings of Pine, Cedar and Cypress trees and told him to plant them together. Lot who was determined to repent did what Abraham told and looked after the trees until the Pine, Cedar and Cypress grew up to be an impressive three-headed tree!

The Monastery of the Cross in Jerusalem is the place where this ancient tree used to be and the art work inside (like this picture) tell its story and how it links to Jesus's last days in Jerusalem.
