היה לי העונג להדריך קבוצה של נוצרים אוהבי ישראל, חברים בכנסייה השוהים בארץ זמן רב עקב עבודתם..חלקם עובדים באו"ם ואחרים בתחומים שונים. הם מגיען כל רחבי העולם- טייון ,פנמה, גאוטאמלה, הונג קונג ועוד. Christian Friends of Israeli Communities אירגן להם סיור ברחבי השומרון.התחלנו בקדומים במקומות שהארגון מסייע -המוקד,מרכז הקשישים. משם המשכנו לאלון מורה למצפה שלושת הימים ברכס איתמר להר גריזים וסיימנו בנווה צוף במפגש עם אביגיל בעלת אחד הבתים שנשרפו כליל בהצתה לפני שנה.

I had the privilege of guiding a group of Christian Zionists, members of a church, who have been living in Israel for a few years. Some of these people are today working for the U.N. here in Israel and some in other capacities. The participants of this group originate from Taiwan, Hong Kong, Guatemala.and Panama.
Sandra Baratz"s amazing organization (C.F.O.I.C.) organized the tour in Samaria. We started off in Kedumim visiting places that were aided by generous donations to the C.F.O.I.C, such as Kedumim's Security Center and Kedumim's Senior Citizen's Club. Later we visited Elon Moreh and the 3 Seas Lookout Point on the Itamar mountain range. We ended the tour in Neveh Zuf with Abagail, one of the 16 home owners who lost their houses last year by Arab terrorist arsonists. This particular group had contributed to the reconstruction of these 16 house.

Tuvia, the founder and director of "Eshel Hashomron" the hotel at the entrance to Ariel, has put up a great program for the "Feast of Tabernacles" at a most reasonable price. He already has a bus load of tourists, so in order to be able to add another bus he needs at least another 30 people. Please tell anyone you might know who may be interested in this program. And hopefully Tuvia may be able to add another bus. Details included.

The Hotel at El Hama is the first station of the Eli Cohen Trail. At the hotel, Eli Cohen hosted Syrian Army officers. As a result, these officers supplied Eli Cohen with the permits enabling him to tour the close military area near the border with Israel. The trail has 8 stations ' some with audio explanations that are vey informative.

לשביל ישנם 8 תחנות, בחלקם יש הסברים קוליים מרתקים.

The Foot Print, adjacent to the moshav Argaman, is the best preserved of the 5 "foot prints" discovered by Professor Adam Zartal z"l between the Jordan River and Mt. Eval. The foot prints were ritual sites where the Children of Israel performed religious ceremonies expressing the connection between the Nation of Israel to the Land of Israel according to the biblical passage (G-d speaking to Abraham and then again to Joshua) "Where ever you shall step, I shall give you the land". This ritual was continued somehow in the tabernacle at Shiloh and later on at the Holy Temple in Jerusalem.

Today the memory of this ritual is preserved in the term we use to denote the festivals as "aliya l'regel" ( ascending to the footprint.), Passover, Succot and Shavuot.

כף הרגל שנמצאה למרגלות הישוב ארגמן הינה השמורה ביותר מבין חמשת כפות הרגליים שפרופ' אדם זרטל מצא בין הירדן להר עיבל. כפות הרגליים היו אתרי פולחן שבהם קיימו בני ישראל טכסים שביטאו את הקשר של עם ישראל לארץ ישראל בהתאם לפסוק "כל מקום בו תדרוך כף רגלך לך אתננה" שנאמרו לאברהם אבינו וליהושע. בהמשך הפולחן התמסד במשכן בשילה ואחריו בבית המקדש. טכסי כפות הרגליים באים לידי ביטוי כיום במונחים עליה לרגל ובכך שהחגים שלנו מכונים 'רגלים'.

The past week was a week of Memorials and Independence. I was privileged to tour the Golan and Galilee with dear friends from Switzerland. We felt the tremendous devotion and self sacrifice that the People of Israel have shown throughout the generations.
A) In the present – We visited the Choter Family at Alonei Bashan near the Syrian border who had lost their son, Gabriel, in a terror attack at the Otniel Yeshiva.
B) In the recent past –We travelled to the Adir Mountain Observation point that commemorates the soldiers who fell in the 2nd Lebanon War and describes the stages of that campaign very lucidly. We paid our respects at the Benaya Rhein Lookout adjacent to Misgav Am that is dedicated to Major Benaya Rhein who fell in battle in the 2nd Lebanese War while saving the lives of many soldiers numerous times.
C) The far past – The battle at Tel Hai that is commemorated at the communal grave in Kfar Giladi and the most unique personality of Joseph Trumpldor. Finally we visited the city of Acco and experienced the coexistence between Jews and Moslems while strolling the alleys of the old city of this special city.

Here I am at "Chirbat Shehada" with the boys from the Amit Yeshiva from Kfar Ganin, PetachTikva.
The trail we took today is one of the many new trails that were marked in the Shomron (Samaria) after more than 20 years that permission was NOT given to mark these hiking trails. The hiking trails will appear in the new edition of the Hiker's Guide put out by the "Society for the Protection of Nature" guild.

This week I had the privilege to guide a remarkable group of Christians, lovers of Zion and the Jewish nation, who visit Israel every year and volunteer their skills in creating and up keeping the 'Tznirim Park' (half pipe) in Kedumim.

One of the places we visited this week was "Katsar El Yahud" near the city of Jericho on the southern banks of the Jordan River. In Biblical times, when the river parted, the Children of Israel were able to cross into the Promised Land (Joshua Chapter 1). Also, at this spot, the Prophet Elijah ascended to the skies. According to Christian tradition John the Baptist baptisted Jesus at this spot.

השבוע ליוותי קבוצה מיוחדת של נוצרים אוהבי ישראל שמגיעה לארץ כל שנה לסיור ולתק' התנדבות בה הם משקמים ומטפחים אתרים בשומרון.
אחד המקומות שבהם ביקרנו היה 'קאסר אל יהוד' הסמוך לעיר יריחו בחלקו הדרומי של נהר הירדן- אותו מקום מיוחס כנקודת חציית בני ישראל את הירדן בכניסתם אל ארץ ישראל לאחר שהירדן נשבר לשתיים (מכאן מקור השם קאסר אל יהוד=שבר היהודים)
במקום זה אליהו עלה בסערה השמיימה.
ועפ"י המסורת הנוצרית שם הטביל יוחנן את ישו.

מבקר בכנס לכבוד 80 שנה להיוסדותה של טירת צבי. הפסיפס בתמונה נמצא במטע תמרים סמוך לקיבוץ, שריד מבית הכנסת של היישוב הקדום תל מנורה ומוצב היום בכניסה לבית הכנסת של טירת צבי.
בחתונות החתן שובר את הכוס מתחת לפסיפס בכדי להמחיש את הפסוק "חדש ימינו כקדם"

אם תרצו להכניס לסיור מעט היסטוריה וציונות מומלץ לבקר גם במיצג האורקולי והתערוכה אודות בארות יצחק המקורית במרכז בארות בנגב בקבוץ עלומים ובאתר החץ השחור ליד קבוץ מפלסים קצת צפונית משם על כביש 232. האתר מספר את סיפור פעולות התגמול בשנות ה-50 של יחידת 101 וחטיבת הצנחנים.

Today, the 1st of February, 14 years ago, the USA Space Challenger disintegrated as it made its re-entry orbit approaching Earth. On board was Israel's first (and until today, only) astronaut ILAN RAMON. I and a group of pensioners from Rosh Ha'Ayin visited his grave in the Nahalal Cemetery. Buried next to Ilan, is his eldest son who was killed in service. May their memories be a blessing.

Warm regards from the Tirza Water Reservoir in the Jordan Valley. This is the exact place where our forefather Jacob crossed the Jordan River when he returned to the Land of Israel.
There are over 16,000 date producing palms planted in the Jordan Valley. The date palm needs 1 cubic meter of water daily to flourish. In order to have successful agriculture, great quantities of water is needed. The water in the Tirza Reservoir comes from the Tirza Stream in the Shomron and from the Kidron Stream in Jerusalem.

בבקעת הירדן נטועים כ – 16,000 דונם מטעי תמרים. עץ התמר צורך קוב מים ביום ולכן ישנו צורך להמון מים לקיום החקלאות באיזור, מאגר תרצה אוסף מים מנחל תרצה בשומרון ומנחל קידרון בירושלים.
** וממש במקום זה יעקב חצה את הירדן בשובו לארץ ישראל
