Mount Zion, Jerusalem.

My group was standing on a scenic roof. What lies beneath?

On the ground floor, a synagogue by the ‘tomb of David’ (even though the Bible clearly states that King David was buried in the city of David which has already been situated elsewhere )

Next to the synagogue, on the ground floor, there is a Yeshiva (a religious school for Orthodox boys) located on the premises of what used to be a Franciscan (Catholic) monastery …

On the first floor, the Cenacle, also known as the Room of the Last Supper : commemorating where Jesus had his passover ‘Seder’ meal prior to being arrested… (one of the holiest sites for Christians).

And on the roof, a minaret from the time the building was used as a mosque!!

Any wonder my group looks a bit confused ?!

Jerusalem is a wonderful place … and yes, a bit crazy too…🤔🤪

PS in the background, the conical roof and the tower of Dormission Abbey.. where, according to tradition, Mary (the mother of Jesus) fell into an eternal sleep…

Even though we were freezing in rainy and windy Jerusalem yesterday, we all kept our smiles and had a fabulous day…

Big bonus:no queues anywhere!! We even snuck into the tomb of Jesus without waiting a minute (there is usually a queue of more than an hour !)

Another fabulous winter day in Jerusalem with a gorgeous international group.

I love the intensity of Jerusalem and the laid back fun of Tel Aviv... but there is nothing like the majestic glory of the desert. The silence, the dramatic scenery, the sense of freedom that I get when I hike there.

Today was simply glorious. You can't go wrong with the Judean Desert. Nachal Tseelim :)

Always fun doing bike tours in Tel Aviv. It's the best way to explore this city. There's lots or bike lanes, it's mostly flat and you get to see a lot...

Plus, you don't feel the heat as much...

Big bonus - when you have nice people to share the experience with :)

Another escape ! This time to the desert. Nachal Zohar and Nachal Heimar. 14km of blue skies, gorgeous scenery, great buddies and the soothing sound of silence all around. Pure heaven (and my very own version of free therapy..)

The tourists are still absent and Omicron is looming ominously everywhere. It feels like it's only a question of days till the positive test will appear and I'll need to stay indoors in confinement... so what to do?

Enjoy the gorgeous weather and run away to the great outdoors with lovely good friends.

Where to go? The Carmel is close and beautiful. A hike there never disappoints. Great for the body and the spirit. Recharged my batteries and ready to face what comes next ...

Just another quick escape to the desert tomorrow...

We all love the Jewish Quarter. There's so much to see: the Cardo, Hezekiah's Wall, the Herodian Quarter, and all its beautiful synagogues... and then the Kotel of course which always fills me with great emotion.

But staying mostly within the Jewish Quarter of the Old city, means missing out on so much of what makes Jerusalem so unique and magical. The three monotheistic religions have their sacred sites closely intertwined here within one square km. This is a truly holy city like no other in the world.

I use to guide the Temple Mount several times a week... and yesterday I was finally back!! What a place! How I've missed the beauty and intensity of this place which is just incredible..

And then, as soon as you leave the Temple Mount, you join up with the Via Dolorosa, the famous Catholic pilgrimage route retracing the last journey of Jesus from the moment of his trial to his crucifixion, burial and resurrection at the Holy Sepulchre. Here's another amazing site. Six different Christian denominations worshipping under one roof. Not such an easy mission...!

When one looks at Jerusalem's long history and sees the role it played in the development of each of the three religions, one truly appreciates why so many millions around the world feel so strongly about this incredible place.

A special day Haifa - exploring its minorities from the Carmelite monks, the Ahmaddians to the Bahai and their breathtaking gardens. We then explored the downtown area and its incredible street art.

Thanks to Efrat Rael Brooks and the lovely group. Was a privilege to celebrate your birthday with you in this way.

Akko - one of my favorite cities. This UNESCO World Heritage site has interesting history, some incredible places to visit and fascinating stories of some of the characters who inhabited it. It was great to be back here again this week. Here's hoping this special city will once again be filled with many visitors it so deserves.

Sometimes you don't need to stray too far from home to find beauty... did a gorgeous hike today at park Canada Ayalon. Enjoyed the beautiful forests and post-rain green fields. Was good for the soul.

Was nice to find a Harel Brigade emblem as well on the path... a nice souvenir from a special morning.
