A Week of Meaning, Solidarity, and Connection
An extraordinary and deeply meaningful week has come to an end. A group of visitors from the U.S. traveled to Israel to volunteer, express their solidarity, and witness firsthand the reality of post-October 7th Israel. It was an emotional and impactful experience for both our guests and hosts, especially in these times when so few tourists are coming to Israel.
Throughout the week, we engaged in powerful experiences. We visited Ziv Koren’s photography exhibition and the Innovation Exhibition at the Peres Center for Peace, offering a window into Israel’s resilience and creativity. We volunteered twice—packing care packages for soldiers and preparing food for those in need. We stood in Hostages Square, bearing witness to the ongoing plight of the kidnapped.
One of the most moving days was spent in the Gaza border communities, where we learned about the war and its impact. We visited key sites in the region but were especially touched by the warm and courageous people of Nir Oz, who welcomed us with open arms despite all they have endured.
We also traveled to the north, where we learned about the security situation along the Lebanese border. We visited Arab al-Aramshe and the village of R’jar, and we even got to enjoy a stunning, snow-covered day in Mount Hermon.
In Jerusalem, we toured Hadassah’s new rehabilitation center on Mount Scopus, met the incredible parents of Gili Ader, who was murdered at the Nova festival, and visited the Knesset, the National Library, and Mount Herzl. Despite the serious moments, we also found time to experience Israel’s vibrant spirit—exploring Mishkenot Sha’ananim and the Old City, shopping for souvenirs, celebrating at Mahane Yehuda Market, and indulging in incredible Israeli cuisine.
It was truly a week of solidarity, resilience, and connection. I want to extend my deepest gratitude to every participant who came to support Israel in these difficult times and to our generous hosts who welcomed us with open hearts.
I hope more groups like this will come soon—Israel needs you now more than ever.
