I just had a walk around a few sites in Old Jaffa and wanted to share with you the amazing views of this place, with its rich history dating back over 4,000 years. It is one of the oldest port cities in the world and has been ruled by many different empires over the centuries.
Today, Old Jaffa is a popular tourist destination known for its narrow alleyways and art galleries. It is also home to several historical landmarks, including the Jaffa Clock Tower, the Jaffa Port, and St. Peter's Church.
Jaffa is mentioned a few times in the Bible and was effectively 'the port of Jerusalem' - through here King Solomon got the pillars of the Temple and from here Jonah boarded the ship, escaping the wrath of God. Jaffa is important to Christians as the place where Peter's vision took place, and it also has a crucial place in modern Israeli collective memory as the entry port for Jews returning to their homeland in the 19th and 20th centuries.
Jaffa also have a vibrant flea market and many more interesting sites to visit. It is a great place for a day tour and it's also beautiful at night - all of this a short walking distance from Tel Aviv.
Don't forget to visit here on your next visit to Israel! and if you need a guide, feel free to contact me...
