Sometimes I get to learn new things in the City of David!!!

Picture #1: Me getting to stand in the upper part of the tower (usually we stand at the bottom).
Picture #2: Tiny little mikvah from 2nd Temple Period.
Picture #3: Manhole cover from 2nd Temple Period.
Picture #4: Part of the Pilgrim Road. This is where Jews heading up to the Temple would hang out. This is also the road the Jews would hide under in the year 70 when Emperor Titus and the Romans were destroying the Temple and killingnas many Jews as possible.
Picture #5: Archeologists Eli Shukrun. He has done most of the excavations in the City of David. What an honor to hear his amazing words of wisdom.

Yesterday on the eve of Jerusalem day I got to guide 4 fantastic people through the Old City of Jerusalem!! What a great tour. Seeing all 4 quarters, making sure to hit all the holy sites. Love my job!! Happy 56 years of Jerusalem being reunited!!🌞

With winter ending comes the end of the rakefet (cyclamen) season. We are entering the spring with thermus (lupin) and calanit (anemone ) beginning to flower! What a great day for a walk in nature 🍃

What a day in April 2022. Got to take this amazing couple from the USA to see the sea of Galilee and the beautiful churches surrounding. Getting to tell and show you the stories of the Bible in front of you makes me happy!! Especially if we get to end the day with delicious food!!

Finally back to guiding!! I guided this great group on Thursday in Jerusalem. A week later on Thursday night in Tel Aviv there was a terror attack. It's so hard to explain how I feel after every attack. They will not keep us down!! I am so proud to be a tour guide and one of the many faces of my country!!

Today Israel turns 73!!! In reality the Jewish homeland is 3,000 years old. It's 73 years since we have returned home and claimed independence. I'm so grateful I get to live here, guide here and love it here!!!

Yom Hazikaron/יום הזיכרון
Last night and today is National Memorial day here in Israel. We remember all the fallen soldiers since the Independence War in 1948 and all the victims of terror attacks. When the siren sounded last night at 20:00 and this morning at 11:00 the whole country stops and takes a moment to remember. May thier memories be blessed. Thank you all who gave thier life so I can live here today!

RAMADAN KAREEM!!! رمظان كريم!!! רמאדן כרים!!
Ramadan is the 9th month of the Islamic calendar. It is the holiest month. During this month one of the 5 pillars of Islam if fasting is observed. Sawm (fasting) is from sunrise to sunset. In the evening after the prayer of Maghrib the fast is broken with Iftar. The break fast every night is usually a celebration with family and traditional food is eaten. Such as dates.
Ramadan is believed to be the month that the Torah, Psalms, Gospel and Quran were passed down. This month is used for time of spiritual reflection, self-improvement and heightened devotion.
During this month is also the holiest night of the year: Laylat Al Qadar (later post).
During this month Muslims will donate thier yearly Zakat (charity). This a set percentage per person. When Zakat is given it is believed that one will receive an abundance in return.

On top is the Dome of the Rock. This is believed to be the place where Prophet Muhammad ascended to heaven. The bottom is Al Aqsa Mosque. This is the 3rd holiest site in Islam. It is believed to be the place where Prophet Muhammad prayed as the farthest Mosque.
