Lohri is a popular winter festival celebrated primarily in Northern India, predominantly by the Punjabi community . The festival is observed on January 13th or 14th every year, depending on the Hindu calendar . It marks the end of the winter solstice and at the beginning of the harvest season People gather around a bonfire and sing traditional songs such as “Sunder mundriye ho!” . The festival is also marked by the consumption of traditional delicacies such as gajak, rewri, and popcorn .
