During this phase, we have an important responsibility to safeguard the health of our travellers and the common people as a whole. Here are few precautionary measures that you can take to prevent the spread of COVID-19:

1. Clean your hands often. Use liquid soap and water, or an alcohol-based hand rub.

2. Wear mask and gloves.

3. Maintain a safe distance from the person who is coughing or sneezing.

4. Don’t touch your nose, eyes and mouth often

5. Always cover your nose and mouth with handkerchief/tissue paper or with your elbow when you cough or sneeze.

Bhagwan Valmiki Tirath Sthal- dates back to the period of Ramayana, Rishi Valmiki’s hermitage. The place has an ancient tank and many temples. A hut marks the site where Mata Sita gave birth to Luv & Kush and also, still extant are Rishi Valmiki’s hut and the well with stairs where Mata Sita used to take her bath. The Bedis of Punjab (Guru Nanak Dev, the founder Prophet of Sikhism was a Bedi) trace their descent from Kush and Sodhis (the 10th Prophet of Sikhism, Guru Gobind Singh was a Sodhi) from Luv. A four day fair, since times immemorial is held here starting on the full moon night in November.

Wishing you a very happy Hola Mohalla!

Hola Mohalla is a weeklong Sikh Festival which revolves around daytime demonstrations of Gatka, the Sikh martial art, and other military sports. Evening events include Sikh worship services and kirtan, the singing of hymns selected from Guru Granth Sahib. The grand finale at the end of the week is a martial arts and nagar kirtan parade. The festival usually takes place mid-March beginning on the first day of Chet, which is the start of the Sikh New Year according to the Nanakshahi calendar.

The word Hola is a masculine variation of Holi, the Hindu Spring Festival of Color, a licentious celebration which precedes Hola Mohalla by a day. Tenth Guru Gobind Singh introduced the martial festivities of Hola Mohalla to coincide with Holi.

In Punjab, Hola Mahalla is traditionally held annually in the city of Anandpur Sahib and is attended by Sikhs from all over India who throng to view the dashing feats of the Nihang warrior sect.
