As the wind gently sweeps across the lush green paddies, the voice of a young singer echoes through the valley, carrying the melody of an age-old song. In our small village, I felt the purity of Chug Valley touch my heart in the most unexpected way. The Duhumbi Heritage Fair is a celebration of this simplicity and the beauty of letting things unfold naturally.

Welcome to our home, everyone—Chug Village!
We are so glad to have you all amidst us. We are the people of Duhumb—the Duhumbi. This place with blooming flowers and rivers flowing has been our heart. My name is Leiki Khandu, and behind me is the song; the very first one in Duhumbi-Monpa, which narrates the love we have for our land.
In Chug, nature is part of us, not something that surrounds us. Waters of the Khom Khou River run with the perfect blue sky above, and blooming Ganden Mento flowers run alongside the river.
(Fun fact- Chug was previously known as Duhum, and the name of the festival comes from the people of Chug/Duhum also known as Duhumbi)
Well, this year we open wide our doors to all of you as we bring Duhumbi Heritage Fair 2024 right before your eyes. The festival is not just all about showcasing the heritage; it’s about welcoming the way of life. A life embracing heritage and sustainability.
Come experience:
* Culinary workshops featuring authentic Monpa delicacies at @damusheritagedine.
* Loin loom weaving and learn the art of traditional craft.
* Paper-making workshops using local techniques passed down through generations.
Come and savor the delicacies of the Monpas. Participate with us in traditional methods of papermaking, preserved over generations.
Take bicycles and ride through our valley, peek into a Monpa home, and play at games and with crafts that are close to our hearts.
A chance to recapture nature and culture in one of the most serene places on earth calls for a chance. Welcome yet again to Chug Village, and we hope that you will cherish each of your moments here.
