PANKHU TOP 🏔️

Pankhu Top Trek is located in Bageshwar district of Uttrakhand. It is also known as Pakhwa Bugyal. The name Pakhuwa refers to the roof, in the local language the roof of the house is uttered. The maximum height of this trek is at 3260. Mtr. Kautali is 4 km ahead of Pankhu Top, from where you connect the route on Kafni Glacier Trek route to Khatti.Local shepherds also live with their sheep, goats in this area. From here, you will see the glaciers and Himalayan peaks nearby and quite clear. The path to reach the summit is a bit difficult. Because this trek came into discussion only a few years ago. Due to lack of developed trek route, you may get confused and lose the way. Most of the distance of this trek you will pass through the path of the forest. Bajlingdhar is the most convenient and safe place for a night’s rest on this trek. Which is 3 Km from Vinayak Dhar. The trekking journey will start from the village. Where you can see old hill houses and other natural beauty. From the view point of Pankhu Top you can see the Sunderdhunga Maiktoli range quite clear and near.

During this trip you will be able to explore the Wildlife and Floral Beauty in Lower Himalaya well.You will see a variety of flowers and animals, which can only be seen in the Himalayan range. Jhuni Village is the nearest village to Pankhu Top. Sahastradhara or Sarmool is located at a distance of 5 Km from here. Which is also the source of the river Saryu. Pindari Glacier Trek is one of the easiest treks in the Kumaon region. The Pindari Glacier is a glacier found in the upper reaches of the Kumaon Himalayas, to the southeast of Nanda Devi, Nanda Kot. The most easily accessible of all glaciers Pindari is over 3.2 km in length & 1.5 km wide and gives rise to the Pindari River which meets the Alaknanda at Karnaprayag in the Garhwal dis­­­trict.
The local proudly refer to it as the soul of Kumaon. It is situated in the mesmerizing Kumaon Himalayas, Pindari glacier is a most accessible of all glacier treks and attracts amateur as well as experienced trekkers. The trail to reach the glacier crosses the villages of Saung, Loharkhet, crosses over the Dhakuri Pass, continues onto Khati village (the last inhabited village on the trail), Dwali, Phurkia and finally Zero Point, Pindar, the end of the trail. Though most of the trail is along the banks of the Pindari River, the river is mostly hidden until after Khati.
Trekking in India is incomplete if you have not trekked Pindari Glacier. It is situated at an altitude of 3,500 Mts above sea level in Bageshwar district of Uttarakhand. The Pindari Glacier Trek provides for a 90 km (56 mi) round-trip trek that most people find comfortable to complete in six days. The Pindari Glacier Trek is also famous for other adventure sports like ice climbing and mountain biking.
