Trip # 4

The Call Of Wilderness

Day 1: Pickup in the morning at Guwahati airport by our man in an SUV. It’s a drive of two and a half hours with a break for refreshments. Moving ahead, we cross the river at Saraighat, into the North Bank. Then we turn towards Manas Tiger Reserve. Once in Manas, we check in at the Smiling Tuskers, then we refresh ourselves and take lunch. Post lunch we do an afternoon safari at the Park. We are back by the evening. There are a series of entertainments after that: bonfire, barbecue, and dinner! Then we go for a rest.

Day 2: This day starts early for us, at six thirty. We go for an early morning safari. Get back for a breakfast of hot puffing Puri sabzi and eggs. Then we check out and move towards Sapoi Tea Estate. After driving for three and a half hours, we reach the estate around lunchtime. We check in and refresh over a cup of fresh brew. After lunch, we carry on to the Orang Sanctuary. The entire post-lunch session is dedicated to wildlife watching at the sanctuary. After an eventful day, we come back to the Estate. In the evening, we enjoy a “Planters’ Evening” over a punch and nibbles by the fireside, followed by a traditional “Planters’ Meal”. After dinner, we retire and take rest.

Day 3: We check out after breakfast for Dirang via Shergaon, Rupa, and Tenga Valley. All of these places are visually charming and offer an array of picturesque views of Nature. We stop at these places for photos and refreshments and a lunch of steaming momos and Maggi! We reach Dirang by afternoon. Check-in at Gonpalak Homestay overlooking the valley. We relax in the evening after a tiring journey throughout the day and get prepared for the excitement of the next day.

Day 4: We set off for Mandala in the morning. You get a view of the entire Eastern Himalayan range, when the sky is clear, from this spot. We take a refreshment of a bowl of noodles and kiwi wine and drive around. Once that is done, we slide down to Dirang Basti. And after completing our tour here, we take a turn to Thembang – the heritage village. We look around the village frozen in time and take photos for memory. Then we come down to Sangti Valley to ease out there, unwind, and breathe in the fresh air. After the entire day of driving around, we go back to the camp and rest for the night.

Day 5: We go to Tawang via Sela, Jaswantgarh, and Jang. We stop at these places, appreciate their beauty, fuel us up, and take photos for posterity. Reach our destination by afternoon. On reaching Tawang, we visit the monastery there. After that, we proceed ahead and check in at our homestay and get refreshed. We have a dinner comprising Thenthuk, Tingmo, and Momos with the brew of your choice.

Day 6: We start off on a drive of 3 hours by the mountains, bordering Bhutan to the West and Tibet to the North, to Zemithang, in the morning. We stop by the waterfalls to admire the charm of nature and finally end up at the shack for a bowl of noodles and wine.
Once we complete this, we drive back, if the weather permits, through Taksang Monastery, perched up in the hills beside the lakes. We get back to Tawang by the evening. We retire for a restful sleep after an exciting day.
Day 7: The next morning, we hit Bumla moving past the lakes. There we meet up with the Chinese border guards. We also stop by the lakes for refreshments and photo sessions. We fill ourselves with dumplings here as lunch and head back to our camp by late afternoon. We relax in the camp in the evening and go to sleep after a satisfying dinner.

Day 8: We set off to Nameri right after breakfast. It is a long drive by the river Jia Bhoreli. Throughout the journey we devour the charisma of the river and its banks, stopping frequently for photo sessions and refreshments. After this exhausting journey, we reach Bameri and spend the night there.

Day 9: Next morning, We go for a jungle trek after breakfast. We also do rafting down the river at our leisure. Later, we visit a few tribal villages for their typical handlooms and weaves. We get a lot of samples and souvenirs from there if we want. Then we start our return journey to Guwahati. It is a four and half hour's drive with stoppages for refreshments. Eastern Himalayas stretches from Sikkim to Pangsu bordering Myanmar. Between the peaks – Kanchenjunga on the West and Gorichen on the East – it is a breathtaking journey. It is a song of the river starting in Tibet becomes rolling through Arunachal and flowing downstream through Assam valley into Bangladesh. It is the tale of the Brahmaputra.

Strewn across an area covering snow-capped peaks, misty high reaches, fertile plains and at least fifty different shades of green to soothe the senses, our trails cover some very illustrious hamlets in the course which stand out in terms of rich culture, cuisine, forestry etc. among other things.

Our tours are spread along the North-eastern states of India and cover different aspects of tourism. They range from cuisine, culture, flora and fauna, plantations, pilgrimages, adventure tourism (including trekking, rafting and camping), and driving off the beaten track. The states that are included at the moment are: Assam and Arunachal. Our expert guides take you through all the major festivals of the region and get you accustomed to all rituals and stories that float around that place.
